Uber, Lyft drivers would need lit signs under Jersey City rule
Will this really help in eliminating fake drivers? I would think criminals would simply premeditate their attacks and can just … -
What's the grossest thing you have found in a Lyft or Uber?
-
Do passengers know that Uber often takes half the fare?
Sadly, the drivers are starting to accept this fact as a daily occurrence, but I feel the need to share … -
Why do Uber and Lyft drivers become so angry when riders don't tip?
I am actually a driver myself. I agreed to all the rates and how much I get paid when I …
I love driving for Uber but they defintitely do downplay this part of the job. We put 50K on our cars, and that is a huge expense.
Right, and we are independent contractors.
It's like landscapers getting mad that he spent all these hours doing the paperwork and looking for jobs, and complaining that they didn't get paid for those hours.
Tell me about it. Most drivers don't know how to change the destination and many don't want to. They are afraid they are messing up the "reservation" and thinking it'll end the trip or be charged ridiculous amount. (One asked she didn't want to be charged the change fee.)
No, the drivers cannot change it in the app, but you can just go of course and the app will adjust the fare for the distance and duration driven. Just make sure to warn the passenger that the fare may change. They should be okay with that.
In all my cases I did that, the fare changed in my favor, so don't be afraid to take requests.
So the asnwer to this question, "As an UberX driver, do you provide gum, mints, water, charger to your passengers?" is yes, but only to those who drive more than a mile.
are we on to something here? Yeah, perhaps drivers' information should also be hidden from the passengers. I can come up with a bunch of rider scams off of this.
Wait what. This is for real? You are saying drivers can't make up profile pics?
should I report myself? ;)
My biggest tip ever on an UberX is $10. $10.00.
See, the problem is that Uber app suggests three tiny tip amounts. No one ever selects the option to enter their own figure.
coz they think in their pants
and entitlement. they feel invincible.
to be honest? yeah. coz dudes can be assholes or violent. or may grope me.
LOL. I was thinking the same thing as I read this. UberX with 4 suitcases? We must be talking at least a carry on or a suitcase on each person's lap. Definitely not safe, and how would I even see out the windows.
I have run into situations where I did drive with full cargo. Honestly, I didn't know what to say and felt bad to say no. So far, I am thankful that I haven't had four-bags four-passenger requests. I guess people are generally pretty smart.
that's what you guys got out of this? LOL.
Speaking of arriving at the same place...
Not a good performance by the driver. You'd better hope this was a multi-destination trip.
Despite the fact that the responses are overwhelmingly "it's ok!", I do see why you would feel guilty. This is a sport for you and it's livelihood for others. So while the capitalistic ideal says this is okay, the reality is that you are indeed taking money out of people who aren't as blessed as you.
With that said, you cannot be driving that much to make a big difference, I would imagine. Perhaps this is where capitalism prevails, because if you already make $150K, then you aren't driven to drive many hours and you'd likely get bored with it at some point. So, I can't imagine this offending other less fortunate uber drivers.
There may be some fake news here. This article positions it like Uber is in desperate mode to be snatched up by Waymo and how they are practically begging for Waymo to call them back.
Uber's network is quite expansive and there's something Google could leverage. Two US tech giants pair up to attack the global market?
Not sure about hippies, but yeah, Lyft drivers seem to be younger. Driven in Philly and Baltimore.
It's not just about the number of cleaning fees, my friend. So many people think Uber has an aglorithm for this and that, but at the end of the day, it's about how many people disputed your cleaning fees. More conflicts you are associated with, more likely Uber will crack down. Pretty simple.
You raise some good points, but you have to pay attention to the details. Sunday mornings are actually very busy due to Saturday folks getting back from their "night out" (think 1~3AM) and also the stragglers in the morning (think 6~9AM).
It is true however that Sunday nights are pretty dead.
Is this for passengers or drivers?
Ooooh, this is the "Phantom Mess" scam.
No there isn't. You can start the trip as long as you are near the pickup location.
