Uber's New Feature - can't use when drunk
-
Are Uber drivers threatened by those dockless bicycles? UberBIKEs, Jump
I am starting to see them all over the place, and I hear there is already a fierce competition in … -
If you were the new CEO of Uber, with absolute power, what would be the first thing you'd change?
I am asking the current Uber drivers, but anyone's welcome.
That happens because they stack the truck with more packages than they can possibly deliver. It's all a matter of scheduling. Sometimes the truck driver has a smooth day, and they can deliver extra packages. Sometimes, he has a rough day and may not get to all deliveries.
I've had that too but it was in a small town in Princeton, NJ.
25%? I have never heard of a rockstar performance like that. That seems impossible to me. Oh, you must mean driving a taxi when the tipping was more customary.
Tips must take many forms in this gig. Doritos, a bong hit, cheese balls, leftover pizzas, etc
Does this mean anything? Won't they all just going to "dance" anyways? They will just put their bikes and scooters on random street corners, and have a thousand people charging them and picking them up as needed. What would the city do?
You can't sue unless you can prove quantifiable damage. Not just because you feel like crap and embarassed yourself.
The driver wouldn't be liable anyways. Unless it was intentional and he went beyond to ruin your day and damage your reputation anywas. Maybe for emotional distress. but honestly, I have no idea, as I am not a lawyer.
Right, the upfront fare thing. People don't complain about that as much anymore, which isn't good.
Uber can charge whatever they want to the customers now. So they do. but the drivers still get the time and distance on the base fare. How is that fair?
It's the different flavors of entitlement that you are absorbing. The flavor you are seeing is, "I am a customer and you are not. You need to treat me well and that is expected."
You couldn't quite have called the cops. Those guys didn't do anything wrong. You feeling uncomfortable doesn't make it a crime. I do emphatize though.
I don't even wanna know what was in that trunk!!
I thought you guys can pick up everywhere. Is that an Uber thing?
Wasn't there a story about how a Lyft driver did a cross country trip and drove in like 16 statements? then wrote a book about it.
These are great points. Remember that being a taxi driver used to be ranked as one of the most dangerous jobs?
I agree the ride share job must not be close to this stats
yeah, it does make sense.
and it is helpful to know the destination so you can plan your trips and the overall direction you are going
"Haven't hit a red light in a mile. It must be a Christmas Miracle."
Will this force a new regulation? I mean now what? Military time?
yeah, and certainly not tourists or any out-of-town traveler for that matter. If you go to another city, why would you look up some random taxi company and call? you just pick up your phone and use the app you always use.
one consolidated vendor. it's like amazon.
We already know this. Just can't resist
Doesn't the OP know that capitalism is a farce? It's an illusion of free market we live under.
Trump won't be making any comments because the killer was white.
Manhattan has crazy number of rideshares and they are iterally overflowing on the streets. Just go to any street corner in mid-town, and you will see black cars lining the curbs. You can wave over any of them (even though you are not supposed to)
The traffic will ironically be light somewhat light, because people won't be working tomorrow. Remember, millions of people travel into Manhattan to work every day, and on the fourth of July, they won't be around. An slightly increased tourist count won't dent that at all.
If you can afford the prices of Uber and taxis (compared to subways and buses), I do suggest you use them as much as you can. I would avoid the busy times, say around the fireworks. Those times can create surge pricing. I am not sure if rain is in the forecast, but this city seems to get surges whenever it rains, as people rush to get a covered ride.
