Yes, this is technically possible. Once we are at the location of the request, i.e. the pin, we can swipe "Start a Trip."
No, the drivers wouldn't do this as it will guarantee a 1-star rating. Also, the customer will complain and reverse the charge anyways. Not worth it.

Some people just don't understand what's right and wrong. I wonder what kind of childhood they had. Forget the rules and terms and laws and stuff. This is just wrong. a 32-year old man should know.
They all walk amongst us, folks. Scary world out there. Be safe.
I think you got something wrong. Maybe your "friend" is trying to make a few bucks off of you.
I think Lyft is sending these out for FREE to those drivers who qualify. I forgot where I saw it, but if you are in one of the cities and provide like 200 rides a month (or something), they'll send you one for free.
What? No, I call BS on this. You do not become personally liable for some stupid ingnorant behavior by your passengers. If they dont' wear their seatbelts, that's their problem.
Now, whether I have legal responsibilities to enforce the seatbelt can probably be argued. I will admit that. Probably depends on the state or something. However, only because I may not be following the books, it doesn't mean insurance company won't pay. If I am speeding and get into an accident, the company will still pay, right?!
Fireball Shots. Those tiny bottles, nips. Popular in college town, and they all love it.
This is an exchange between a person and person. Nothng to do with me being an Uber driver. Just never to underage kids.
You can buy them for like $1.00 each and you cansell them for $5, easy.
The airport thing is a major problem. I hate it. Everyone tries to be smart about "requesting ahead", and they aren't even ready. They must be requesting it before they get all their bags. Why don't they understand that we are off of a queue and requesting ahead has no meaning.
and it's the worst for the driver. Navigating in front of the terminal is a mess (have you seen PHL and LGA?) , and we are always afraid of not getting another ride after we cancel.
re - How long are waits at airports? what do you mena, another ride?
That's totally a thing. It's very effective. It makes people feel guilty for using their thing. It's a polite shove.
Airport trips usually score big tips. More to do with longer trips, I suppose. I remember getting a $20 tip on a $60 ride. (I think it was like 62 and left a 18.)
Nope. They never responded. Typical Uber. It was a good attempt though. Does't hurt
It sounds like you are looking for benefits usually reserved for employees.
I am agreeing with you, as I feel your pain. I am a driver and this job takes a toll. I don't know how I do it. LOL.
Don't care. whatever the passenger says. Most of the time, they don't say anything, so i listen to my own thing. Sightly turned down as i pick up a passenger. Some do ask it to be turned down, say when they are on a call or seem very tired from the day.
Darn it. I am a driver and being called out as a rider scammer. Where did my life go wrong.
Yep. I second that. No idea why. Black people don't like the cheesy feel of Lyft. I am guessing it's a cultural fit.
Just paid $450 for my four tires. Thank you to 450 of you.
2.5% admin fees? I feel like that's high. I see value in this service, but they are already getting a bulk order. Shouldn't they be happy they signed a large order to make drivers happy?
They should be offering a discount, if anything.
So I believe this is frowned upon, but you can. You will quickly notice that with UberPool, the rides are automatically accepted and you don't have chance to ignore or decline; however, there is a trick.
...and I won't even ask why you want to do this. I do it sometime. Don't ask why.
Right after you accept a UberPOOL request, even before you pick up the first person, you can either a) go off-line by swiping at the top left of the screen or b) go to menu and select "Accept no more rides."
Once you complete the ride, the app asks you to stay online. Then you can tap "Stay online", and you are all set.

No, I don't think so. I've picked up people who left their phones inside the house. (or picked up someone who had their friend call an Uber.)

To be clear, that's five minutes after you arrive at location. not to be confused with the time from when I accept the ride. (The latter is used for fees when riders cancel. i.e. If they cancel after 2 minutes from the time driver accepts the ride, they are dinged.)
