Should I buy SUV or Sedan if I want to become a Uber driver?

Yes, this is technically possible. Once we are at the location of the request, i.e. the pin, we can swipe "Start a Trip."
No, the drivers wouldn't do this as it will guarantee a 1-star rating. Also, the customer will complain and reverse the charge anyways. Not worth it.

Did you guys see this article on NY Post?
Your ride home from Uber, Lyft is about to get a lot more annoying
Hey, I already work for 5, so why not another?
I was out there. It was disappointing. Perhaps it was because it was a Wednesday but I thought the warm weather will get people out.
I guess by people I mean kids. They don't take Ubers, do they. LOL.
HAppens to me every weekend
Well, yes, you should buy a car for Uber driving. You should buy a separate and dedicated car if you are going to do this fulltime.
The key factor is whether this is fulltime or not. If it's a part time, by all means, make some extra cash utilizing the car you already own. If it's full-time? I tried this in the beginning with my family car and everything started to break after a few months of driving 600+ miles a week.
See, these things break when you take your phone off and on the holder. I just leave my iPad on it the whole time, and I don’t have an issue.
Yes, I do have my phone with me, but I leave it on the seat or my pocket. The calls and texts from riders do come to my iPhone and not the iPad. It works great.
I always have riders who completely ignore my request to not smoke and smoke anyways. Yep, people do it anyways. I am at a point where I take it as a Saturday night. (sad)
What really ticked me off is one customer who left a cigarette burn on my door's upholstery. I saw this happen and called it out. I was so mad I thought I'd lose it.
Huh? It's right below your star rating. Sandwiched between Star Rating and Cancellation Rate.
Maybe our goal should be to match the tipping for taxis. 15-20% That's not too much to ask, right? Or is it
Let's see. $1.00 for every 5 minutes? If each mile is about $1.50-2.00 on an UberX (roughly), ...darn it. Didn't pay enough attention in high school math to do this. Someone help?
I always dispose of my cigarette butts and ashes outside of the vehicle and I carry a tin with a tight lid. (or sometimes Snapple Bottles. Never ever smoke inside the car.
Definitely open the windows after getting back on, and let it air out.
Honestly though? I still get dinged sometimes. Some people are very sensitive to ciagrette smokes. and by "senstiive" I mean they notice.
Yeah, you are right. You will be dinged for cancelling that trip. It's a bummer.
I have heard that there is no specific cancellation rate that triggers a deactivation. It's all up to Uber's discrtion and is treated case-by-case. I wouldn't worry about it.
I was also told to keep mine below 20%. That is what I strive to achieve. In fact, I am trying to be smarter to cancel rides I am not comfortable with. So I tell myself that I can cancel one out of five.
Conceptually, they are the same. It happens in busier areas where there aren't enough drivers to provide enough coverage. At least that's the intent of it.
Lyft and Uber calculate their own surge areas. There are overlaps, of course, but yes they are independent from each other, where one can have a surge and not the other.
I wonder if that answers the question.
They announced Getaround is opening shop in Philly. This was just last week.
$5 an hour? See, that sounds cheap, but not when you add it up.
So if I have a 14 hour shift, that's $70. Then I have to pay like $30 on a tank of gas. so I have to pay $100.
Well on second thought...I can definitely clear a profit. Then there is no expenses? It may work.
(though I won't try it because I already own a car.) I wouldn't let it just sit there. This would only work for people who don't own cars, right?
yeah, what do these riders expect from Lyft drivers in San Francisco, ya know?
You keep your pants on while at home?
Don't you know the saying, "Home is where pants aren't."
Yeah, they exist. be careful and treat them nicely. Or else they'll leave you a negative rating... I assume.
Simple. It gets super busy. People try to get out of the rain and start calling cabs.
This is true, very true, in most major cities, where people have the option to walk to places. In the suburbs, perhaps not as much.
If the attacker wanted to hurt you or kill you, he would have done it already. If he pulls a weapon, just pull over (try), and listen to what he wants. not much you can do as a driver. You are pretty vulnerable as you sit up front, and your back is towards the crook,
Wow, lots of different opinions here.
My response? Uber drivers do so much more than just drive and get you there. Is that enough to answer your question?
We provide phone chargers, we opent he doors and help with the luggage, we clean the cars in between fares, and we try to keep the cabin as comfortable as possible. We try to drive smoothly, and maybe even try to choose a good music for the mood.
We give you tips on the sights to see and directions when asked. We listen to your problems, and we make sure you are safe while you get on or get off the car. ...and best of all, we got you there safely.
Not so much a flag but BO - body odor.
You know what though? us drivers often know if it's a passenger from hell or not pretty quick. It's the attitude they give immediately after getting in the car. or it even happens before the trip over the phone.
It's like sixth sense. We just know.
