Uber released its first new product in three years last week. It’s something that none of us were expecting, but all of us will appreciate: Express Pool.

UberX is Uber’s standard service that serves up to 4 people. UberPool is the more affordable version where you can ride with 1 or 2 passengers, and share the ride with others going to similar destinations. Express Pool is even cheaper than UberPool.

Uber is Trying to Keep Drowsy Drivers off the Road

Uber is introducing a new policy that requires all drivers in the U.S. to take a six-hour break after driving for 12 hours straight. This policy will be strictly enforced by an app countdown that automatically warns drivers when they are approaching their maximum driving limit. 

The 12 hours of consecutive driving is based on how long the driver spends driving while online in the Uber app. If they are pulled over or stopped somewhere, that time will not be counted. According to the Washington Post, Uber will not track hours drivers spend offline for Uber but driving for …

This week marks the beginning of the Uber versus Waymo trial in San Francisco. The lawsuit against Uber, issued last year, stated that the company stole information from Waymo. The results of this trail may determine the fate of Uber’s self-driving car program.
