Advertising is coming to Lyft

Yesterday, Lyft announced their newest initiative, Lyft Media. Lyft describes Lyft Media as “Lyft’s very own media and advertising business”. Lyft breaks down Lyft Media into 4 segments, Lyft Halo, Lyft Tablets, Lyft Bikes, and Lyft Skins. Here is a breakdown of each platform.

Lyft Now Accepts Cash as a Form of Payment!

Up until this point, rideshare companies only accepted debit/credit cards as a form of payment. Unfortunately, that created a transportation barrier for almost 7.1 million US households who are “unbanked” or have limited access to traditional financial services. Lyft, in an effort to be more inclusive, recently announced a new way to pay for Lyft rides: with cash.

Uber has officially launched their new Uber Comfort Electric service in over 30 U.S. cities! Uber first announced plans for the new ‘Uber Comfort Electric’ service about 8 months ago, sharing that through a partnership with Hertz, drivers would be able to rent a Tesla for use on the Uber platform.

As of today, more than 15,000 drivers in 30+ cities, including Los Angeles, Houston, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami, have rented a Tesla through this program. Careem is a global ridesharing company with headquarters located in Dubai. The company was started by two consultants in 2012 and was originally a website used for online car bookings. Since then, the company has evolved to become a car booking service for everyday use. The service is known for operating in countries where there are limited public transportation options and much of the population does not own a vehicle. UberX Share; Uber's Newest Shared Ride Service

Just weeks after Lyft announced their new and improved shared rides, Uber released a statement detailing their newest service, UberX Share. Similar to Uber’s old pool option, UberX share allows passengers who are going in the same direction to share an Uber ride and save on cost.
