  For those 29 cent burgers, they must be relying on money being made on drinks and other items. I wonder if they lost money on those transactions.  did you get a feel?

  Then again, it probably costs them 10 cents to make those burgers.

  You sound like they stopped shafting drivers. LOL 

  Uber is desperate of making profits and all I hear is sky rocketing prices with drivers still making normal rates. (they pocket the difference in the name of "driver shortage.")

  They did ay off 17% of employees back in April.  Their stock plummeted but seems to be back close to the pre-pandemic time.  It looks like they will survive the downturn.

  PS. I just learned how to spell "plumetted" I mean "plummetted".  I mean "plummeted."

  Uber probably does this depend on demand, or drivers willingness to accept certain ride types. It makes sense. Just another way Uber controls the way we work.

   3 years ago in  Uber Vehicles are breeding grounds for Covid-19 - Think about it. Uber needs an improved process.

  Just for your sanity, the drivers are asked to put their masks on BEFORE they go online, i.e. start their shift. So technically, they are supposed to have their masks on during the entire shift. I do not know what percentage keeps their masks on or not. 

  Here's what Uber says. I did the highlights.  Basically, the checklist must be completed before every ride.

  Before you can go online to drive or deliver, you will be asked to confirm, via a new Go Online Checklist, that you’ve taken certain preventive measures. The Go Online Checklist includes steps such as having on a face cover or mask, that you have sanitized your vehicle or food delivery equipment, and that you will not allow anyone to ride in your front seat.
  
  Riders too will be asked to confirm they have taken certain precautions like wearing a face cover or mask and washing or sanitizing their hands before they can ride. They must also agree to sit in the back seat and open windows for ventilation.
  
  In addition to the Go Online Checklist, prior to going online and accepting trips or deliveries, you will be asked to verify you are wearing a mask by taking a selfie wearing it.    4 years ago in  The cancellation charges in Uber are totally absurd because the company is charging us for the cancellations done by the drivers as well. Why will I make a payment for a ride that has been denied by the driver?

  Wait, is this right?

  The rider has five minutes to cancel. Or was it 2? I think that clock starts after a driver has accepted the ride. 

  And if the driver cancels while you wait, then you shouldn’t be charged the cancellation fee.  Of course the exception is if the driver is already at the pick-up location and you aren’t there.
