If they do that in my car, they get kicked out. Doesn't matter where we are.
But most of the time when I pull the car over and inform them that they are no longer welcome, they put out the cigarette. And so I continue. I am not cruel, I just demand a certain level of respect. All that being said I have only encountered this problem a few times in my career.
The dirty shoes things aggrivates me to no end. Most people are considerate enough to clap their feet together before they get in. Some are not. They are either oblivious to it, or worse sometimes I think they do it intentionally as a power play. I drive in Boston where we for most of the winter the roads are covered in slush which is a mixture of ice, road grime, and road salt. I put all weather mats in the car (I am not crazy) but still, the slush gets everywhere if people don't stomp it off first.
It is just a basic courtesy that your mom should have taught you growing up.
Yup I'm sure they got their direct deposit right on time, and maybe sold a few shares to buy that new boat too.
Yes. And for some reason I have a hard time believing this is a mistake or a "bug". I do not trust uber enough for that...
Drivers are going to do whatever they have to to maximize their small income. uber needs to understand this. Call it a "scam" if you want but those trips are just not economically viable. I don't blame any driver who does this.
Stay safe you guys down there. Be smart. Don't risk your lives for a few bucks.
I have read about this but the filing fees hurt too much. I stick with sched C.
Probably a good idea...
LOL. What a nerve on that guy. Good luck with Uber. If you ask me I would probably not bother jumping through their hoops, and just eat the fee.
I have heard a couple of similar comments. Some people do get it. Unfortunately most don't or just don't care. They figure we wouldn't be driving if it wasn't worthwhile.
It's funny, for all of Uber's efforts to become the good guy in the past year, they are just becoming a different kind of bad guy.
Summer can be kind of a slow time... I am not really sure why. it'll pick up.
Come on. You can't be serious.
Umm, yeah, not gonna happen. Sorry. I need the money and this "strike" won't work anyways unless you get literally every driver to participate.
This sounds like some BS
When you boil it down, the only difference is street hails. That's it. In the age of apps that's basically meaningless. Rideshares are taxis.
You get used to it. You build up a tolerance. Butt tolerance. Not something that ever bothers me.
No benefits. No guaranteed wage. Of course the gig worker is going to lose in the end. The only obvious solution is to unionize. If yuo hate unions, try driving for Uber for a while for your full time job. You will start to understand the point of them pretty quick.
SUPER ANNOYING. Probably a conspiracy yes. Uber knows what they are doing.
I think there is a hidden danger for drivers here. When you say "we all want fewer drivers on the road", I think you are right, but whether that's actually good or not depends on how it happens. If it happens via some regulation limiting rideshare cars, then it's going to be bad for drivers, because it becomes a buyer's market. More drivers looking for jobs = lower wages.
Fewer rideshares on the road also increases demand for cars. This may seem good for drivers (at least, the ones who are left), and in some ways it would be since we should be able to drive more, but it might also mean Uber and Lyft can get away with taking more for themselves. After all, there are plenty of drivers waiting to take over if I quit, in this scenario. So the reality might be fewer jobs and higher commissions.
The elephant in the room is that fixing this means taking cars off the road... which means less rideshare drivers. Sorry but it has to be said.
