My friend told me some drivers would be happy to do this, because they still get paid the same amount, i.e. distance and duration driven. In fact, I heard drivers would be happy if there were no other passengers because during pickups, they make no money for the distance or duration
Can I ask the the Uber driver not to accept anymore riders on an UberPool? (or LyftLine)

Why are people arguing on this topic? This is completely moot. Drivers do not have a choice to NOT pick up additional passenger requests. The Uber Driver App automatically accepts the additional rides, you don't have a choice of denying the request or ignoring it.
It's designed that way, probably to thwart crooks like all these people commenting here.
No, that's not true. I hate to almost share this but...
oh, man. Should I? You actually can deny subsequent ride requests on an UberPool. After you pick up your first passenger, you just go to Off-line mode. No additional passenger request will be accepted. Did I change your world?
As a former ÛBER and LYFT driver I agree with posters who say you CANNOT, as a driver, stop ÛBER from picking up a second passenger to share the rides. The GOOFIEST reply was from the NO-MIND who suggested we disconnect from our company’s phone feed just to give a cheap ride.
That is too ridiculous to respond to.
I don't think this is true. Can you finish your trip in offline mode? Won't Uber catch on?
I do not like the intent here. You are asking how to cheat the system and not pay as much. You are doing this to get a lower rate but you do not want to share the ride with anyone. That is wrong.
It's super selfish. Just call an UberX.
Don't UberPool drivers get paid regular UberX, prices? So no drivers are affected by this.
No. UberX actually pays a few pennies more than Pool. And none of us liked it.
The notion about not making money during a pickup isn't accurate. We do get paid for the 0~2 minutes we wait for additional pickups, as long as there is already a passenger.
UberPool drivers get paid from the time we pick up the first passenger until we drop our last passengers. So, it's in our best interest to make the trip as long as possible by picking up everyone Uber throws our way. (and I assume Lyft is the same.)
Also, in some cities, UberPool drivers get paid a pickup fee for each stop. In Los Angeles, it's $0.95 per pickup, which sweetens the pot.
Sorry but these posts piss me off. You are paying PENNIES for a ride!! Just freaking pay the pennies people.
This person is happy to pay the fare just doesnt want to share the ride.
I am not sure how Uber Pool works... but I would expect it is less expensive than Uber X. If that is the case, it just shows that you are selfish and cheap to the point you really do not care who you hurt and expect people to move mountains for you because you are you and that people should do it because you are you and not get a fair wage. If you continued down this line of questioning... I would want to block you out of spite. Imagine if everyone was like that... many Uber drivers are struggling... yet you want to shave a few dollars off your ride... and think that is OK? Well, how about we ask you to do your job, but take a 50% pay cut, but expect the same performance... and we could care less how you fare... never even a consideration. I mean, why would we pay you more?.. it is inconvenient.
Suuuuuuurrrrrreeee, it's your friend. This is obviously you.
