Yes, you can be SURE rates will  increase to the customer, but you can also be equally assured that the drivers will NOT benefit whatsoever, in fact it's reasonable to say that drivers will be seeing WAY fewer promotions and adders over the next few months.

While many will consider this speculation at this point, MARK MY WORDS.

With that thought in mind, will YOU, as an Uber contractor, continue to support and drive for Uber if promotions are curtailed and we basically see the base rates as the primary revenue stream?

What promotions do we currently get?  Most have already disappeared into the wind, and we're already working at base rates with gross market over saturation to make things worse.

Yup. Bingo. It sucks but it's just how it is for now.

They're a for profit company. They'll do whatever helps their bottom line.

If there is a driver shortage, they'll pay drivers more. Until then, they won't. There is no business need to.

People are willing to work for next to nothing, or maybe they don't realize they are getting next to nothing? Either way, I hardly anticipate a driver shortage anytime soon. It is too easy to sign up and feel like you are making some extra cash.

Thankfully I never depended on surge, promotions, and bonuses. In order to get them you have to accept every crappy trip out there, drive in bad hoods, work split shift, and so on. No thanks. Rather pick and choose what is more acceptable, safe, and profitable for me:) In order to make decent bonus you have to do 75+ trips per week but you are taking a bunch of pool and short 3.45 rides no thanks.

Yep, I agree with Momof4. I take Uber day by day, if it even gets terribly out of hand, then sure I'll look for making extra income elsewhere.

There promotions have always been scammy anyways. Not a big deal in my book.
