The next time you open your Uber app to request a car you may notice a new donation button front and center. In an effort to drive funds and support to resettlement programs of the International Rescue Committee, Uber launched a new in-app donation button for all Uber app users.

In response to Hurricane Ida, Lyft has activated their LyftUp initiative in Louisiana and Mississippi. LyftUp is a Disaster Response program that Lyft has now activated over 25 times since 2017. LyftUp provides access to free and discounted rides for those who need it most. 

Currently, LyftUp can be used in Louisiana and Mississippi for riders looking to get a ride to designated shelters and/or critical resources. Lyft has reinstated their shared rides option after previously cancelling the service due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. In an effort to help communities to get moving again and to provide more opportunities for drivers to earn more, Lyft has revamped and launched a brand new shared ride experience in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Denver, with plans to expand to additional markets soon. If you need emergency assistance during your Lyft ride, you can now easily request help discreetly from the Lyft app. In partnership with ADT, Lyft has enabled a new safety feature that allows riders and drivers to quickly get help if they ever feel they are in an unsafe situation.

Request Help as a Rider

Lyft riders can request help discreetly by tapping ‘Alert 911 silently’ in the Lyft app. You have 10 seconds to cancel the request, after the 10 second period a member of the ADT team will contact law enforcement and share your location details. You will …
