DUI and UBER

Ride-hailing services such as Uber have ushered in a new era in public transportation.

For starters, the service helps plenty of people earn extra money through driving. Uber also helps reduce the number of cars on the road and take people where they need to go with minimal fuss. A critical by-product of people choosing to use the service is the reduction in DUI arrests in large cities. Miami, San Diego, and Los Angeles have all reported a decrease in both DUI arrests and fatalities.

As good as Uber is, no system is perfect. There have been reports of drivers …

Is Uber Safe? According to Uber, No.

Posted by: Lilly Kenyon in Driver Community , Rider Community , Rideshare Knowledge 4 years, 6 months ago

Yesterday, Uber released, for the first time in history, a complete safety report. The report covered all rides in the US for the full 2018 calendar year and partial 2017 calendar year. Surprisingly, or perhaps, not so surprisingly, the report disclosed that during this time period there were 3,045 sexual assaults, 9 murders, and 58 deaths due to auto-related accidents. Of the 3,045 sexual assault cases, 235 were classified as rapes. Also, interesting, is that both drivers and riders reported assaults as roughly the same rates.

What is even scarier, is that it is very likely that these numbers …
