Taxi Driver - Boston
398 DriverI've been a taxi driver for 20+ years now. Been in Boston the whole time. I'd like to think I have open mind and am not against signing up for Uber. Just haven't had the chance yet. Oh, I don't own a car, so how do I do that?

Imagine the steps it takes.
- You see the request comes up. You accept.
- You drive to the restaurant.
- You find a parking spot.
- You walk inside the restaurant.
- You wait until the hostess can approach you.
- You wait until the food comes out.
- You walk back to the car.
- You drive to your destination.<-------------------The time you make money.
- You arrive then look for a parking spot.
- You walk to the address.
- You knock and wait at the door.
- You hand over the food
Tell me how this is worth it.
In many states, it's just a rider (hehe) on your personal policy. The incremental fee isn't too much more. Often just adds more liability insurance.
Also, remember that Uber has its own liability coverage.
Some dramatic changes coming, huh. The days of Uber just being another taxi is not far.
Isn't this what we all use Waze for? To circumvent police cars with speed traps? Ahem.
it's a conspiracy. They've been saving it up.
High demand pricing, huh? That's a new one. I hadn't heard before.
Why not Sitbaq? Why all CAPS? It took me a while to figure out how to pronounce it! Sit back!
Holy cow, it's long. Can someone summarizes this for me? What happened?
It's not like Travis can switch to taking Lyft. LOL.

super corner use case.
Yes, but they said iOS is Trump and Android is the moderator.
Yes, it's hard to believe but the team tries to moderate it. hlarious, I know.
I would imagine the drivers would get confused? With the whole GPS thing?
See, I don't mind service dogs, because they are clean, well kept, and well mannered. Pets are a different story. Specially the wet ones. I can't tell you how much complaint I got over the years in rainy NYC.
yeah, they do. Most use their own cars. not sure about gasoline.
how would you not know this.
There are lots of people who holds shopping as a hobby. $0.99 won't bacnkrupt anyone. people jsut carelessly spend $0.99 on ebay all the time.
How would the driver's profile pic as the car approaches?
So DIA is responding to cut the # of taxis to linger. So what about them Ubers? They cannot be told NOT to come to the airport, huh? because they are normal people.
so what this comes down to is that DIA can biully taxi drivers but they can't uber drivers. imagine that. so sad.
I am a taxi driver. I have transported in multiple instances underage kids. They hail me, the parents would put them on, etc etc. When I used to drive in NYC, I was told the kids' laws like seatbelts, carseats, and underage thing are exempt in a taxi.
not sure about uber.
@ippei. I don't mean to burge in on your dreams and future vision, but that photo is totally possible today. I'd pull you aroud in my pickup any day. Just tell me when and where. I got a hitch.
