i noticed my passenger rating seems really low lately. i dont remember it being this low, but maybe it is because ive had to cancel some rides lately?
If i cancel my uber, will my rating go down?
The Guru Take
No, drivers rate you at the completion of a ride. Your rating will not go down if you cancel.
Hi, dawn,
No, your rating will not go down if you cancel your Uber ride before the trip. The drivers rate their passengers upon the completion of the rides, so if you cancel, they will not have the chance to rate you.
If you cancel mid-ride? Well, that technically isn't cancelling, because the driver would "end the trip" on the Driver App. In this case, however, you will be rated.
How low is your rating? Perhaps it isn't anything you should be worried about. Here are some great articles to self-reflect on. :)
Of course, you should also remember that cancelling after a few minutes may result in a cancellation fee from Uber and Lyft. This fee will be credited towards the driver in full.
UPDATE: If you, the passenger, cancels a ride during a trip, this is an equivalent of completing a trip. In this scenario, the driver can rate the passenger.

Thanks.
The cancellation fee is shared with Uber.
I thought the full $5 cancellation fee goes to the driver?
Check your pay when you get a cancellation. Uber takes 25% of $5 leaving you$3.75.
That's bs. I thought it was to compensate for our lost time. Why is Uber get a cut of a failed ride/transaction?
I have a 4.9 and I cancel rides occasionally. Couple pieces of advice that you might not think of are to close your Uber doors softly (driver's hate having their doors "slammed"), avoid talking on your cellphone, don't bring anything smelly (food, too much perfume, etc) into the car!
Talking on the cell phone? That's what I do on every Uber trip, when I'm taking one alone. That's just what I do...
If you are alone, then I see no problem with talking on the phone. It should not be a loud distracting conversation.
If you are in an UberPool then I agree that it is really rude.
A lot of people do it but it is incredibly rude. Poor Uber driver just has to sit there and listen to your conversation. If I was a driver, I would definitely rate people lower for doing this.
So they'd rather sit there in silence? I'm not obligated to talk to them and I don't think the drivers care if I talked to them.
Those people on the phones are customers who are paying to be a bit more product. I think they should be able to call them during the time they bought.
i heard that uber made it impossible to change ratings, so maybe a driver gave you a bad rating on accident and couldn't change what he/she put
i thought you could change a rating for 24 hours after the trip?
No, not anymore. At least driver ratings. Not sure about rider ratings.
i usually can tell when i get a driver that is going to give me a bad rating, most of the time i cant control the situation but im fine with it. at least uber wont kick me out unless the rating is super low
You can always pay them off. Leave a cash tip at the end of the ride.
Though its it's probably not worth caring that much. Can an Uber rider be deactivated if the rating becomes too low?
Thank you for the answer. My rating is 4.6, which seems pretty low to me. Hopefully I can get it higher, because I'm afraid that some drivers may not accept my ride requests in the future. Thanks again!
Your ratings don't matter that much for passengers. You still are presented to the closest driver. That's a myth that you won't get rides if your ratings are low. Plenty of drivers are out there.
They will always be happy to take your money.
