Yes, there are Uber drivers there! Not a ton though so you may have to wait about 10-15 minutes for a pickup.
Can you try the following and see if one of these steps works?
1. Double check that your phone number is entered correctly and try texting start again.
2. Your mobile carrier may be blocking the short code SMS that Uber uses to contact you. Please contact your mobile provider to confirm that short code SMS is enabled for your mobile account. Please make you don't block SMS from foreign number.
3. Try basic troubleshooting, turn off your device and back on. This may reconnect your device to the network to receive the SMS.

I would book an Uber XL to be safe and to give yourself room. You probably could fit in an Uber X with some of your luggage next to you on the seat if cost is a big factor.
