Remember this mantra of being an Uber driver:
You make money by driving the rush or driving the drunks.
It is sturdy as I have it attached to the metal rail beneath my seat. However I will admit, when I try to yank the phone off with one hand, the arm bends and is annoying.
I’d like to say I don’t take it off often, but I do. I have headsets and all, but I type much faster when the phone is actually in my hand. Plus I play games between fares.
While I agree, most of us cannot leave our phone or ipad in the car. People would break in pretty quick if I left it in there.
Good call on the iPad though. I would take that out less than I would a phone.
I got the arm one that permanently attaches to the metal seat frame
Something like this.
There was a thread on this forum that Philly drivers get paid tolls on bridges for both directions even though they only have to pay for one direction. (Passed on to customers.) I wonder if it’s related
it does happen to me from time to time. I-95 in New Hampshire for example. Uber is very good about refunding me later though. Then again, like you said, all errors will benefit them for sure.
This is what I have to say about that.

I am glad you updated the question. The seeing (or not seeing) destinations is a pretty widely discussed topic. There are drivers who argue that they cannot see the rider information like names, gender, exact pickup locations, etc..
In my personal opinion, I think this is a slippery slope. This information the drivers are asking for can be used to discriminate against the ridership. While they may argue that they can choose what clients to pickup, it shouldn't be based on race, gender, age, etc.
No, there's stomach acid, saliva, and stuff. totally bodily fluids.
100% agreed on how they are primarily for self promotion by Uber and Lyft. Does it help riders identify us better? I guess, but I am not sure if it really made any difference as people use license plate anyways. it also wont' work as a crime prevention because anyone can have these lights. In fact, crooks can have a hayday picking up random passengers who think it's legit car.
BTW, these things are requied in Boston. You have to have them displayed at all times. Not sure who will ever enforce it though. Passengers? LOL.
Yippeeee, Massachusetts got $7m. How many drivers are there in Mass?
https://www.bizjournals.com/boston/news/2018/09/26/uber-paying-148m-in-national-data-breach.html
No, the key is that you drive to an area where you know there are very few riders. This way, you don't even receive the requests, hence no need to refuse.
Popular in drivers in suburbs who could just go home, sit in their living room watching tv, and satisfy the criteria.
I had no idea of this, "the limitations of their insurance coverage stops at 7 passengers."
However, I believe the drivers, even with their Suburbans and Escaldes with 8 seats, don't have to take the seventh passenger, as 7 is not an offered capacity by Uber SUV.
I still cannot download the new app. No updates. I keep checking the App Store on my iPhone but I don't see it.
Someone told me this is a phased roll out, but I am not sure how that's the case. Isn't it either on the App Store or not? ...or is this some kind of *inside the Uber app* update where the app is the same but Uber is doing something remotely?
I guess I will just wait. Like you said, I prefer to wait until they work out the kinks.
I haven't gotten the new app yet, so I can't tell you for sure, but someone else mentioned on this forum that they are all there, just on different screens?
75 will be at least 4 days, and that's if you are very good and know what you are doing. They are looking for drivers who are willing to go out there every day, pretty much.
Here's my warning to you. You will really need to comit, and that's the lifestyle you will be committing to. It's fine if you are ready, but remember that one of the benefits of driving an Uber is flexibility and working when you want to. This Express program basically takes that freedom away.
I always suggest to my friends to ease into driving for Uber or Lyft. Try it out for a few hours at a time. See how it will work for you. 75 times is jumping in with both feet. Many drivers end up burning out when driving for too many hours
Ah, NY Post. I can't believe I used to read that crappy paper. (I lived in NYC. Hey, it has great entertainment value.) I mean...look at the three paragraph article and how it never goes into the details. I can't even tell what really happened.
In any case, there was obviously a huge dispute and a difference arose. For a driver to stab someone, he must have be threatened or the passenger wasn't leaving the vehicle or something like that. It's a paying customer. This became a personal dispute and a conflict. Can we stop trying to pin this on the fact that he was a Lyft driver. It gives the rest of us a bad name.
"Officer Robert Heims says the driver argued with three passengers after they were unable to give him a dropoff location early Sunday."
I hadn't heard of "Paz" before I read this either. :) Sounds kinda cool.
I guess I am a "Driv" then.
Looked into incorporating in Mass. Costs $500 every year. Ouch.
I've had a few in Boston, but I believe they were like $12~14. Yeah, I know. Pretty big, but I do rememeber I was driving in the suburbs and the trip was like 20 minutes. (I think.)
What would the passenger think if I was told Stephanie is showing up and a Bob shows up? Total sketch.
I wonder how he gets around the profile pic issue.
This is just bad practice all around. You can get busted by any of your riders, and you can get busted by Uber for failing the profile picture check.
Hells no. I hate bodily fluids. My gosh, what is wrong with you.
