Driver here. Uber cars are technically supposed to be smoke-free. But like brownbear said, even if that rule was adhered to, you don't know the car's history. One thing you could do is call the driver after you request the ride (you can call via the app), and ask them, explaining that any previous smokers in the car at all would give you a bad reaction. Most drivers would be honest about it since they don't want a bad rating. They would rather you cancel the ride than get a 1 star rating.
But Tom Brady sucks, why would they want to be associated with him?

Edit: oops meant to reply to the guy above
Yah there is definitely more than alcohol going on here. That girl needs help.
The whole idea of Lyft and Uber X in the beginning was that it was just normal people making use of their cars in off hours to make a little extra cash. If they turn us all into employees that spirit is gone forever. Of course maybe it already is.
Service dogs are the all-stars of domestic animals. Amazingly well trained. Unfortunately there has been a proliferation lately of "emotional support animals" which are not trained at all in most cases and I think that has given all service animals a bad name. (Wrongly)
Interesting... I wonder why. Doesn't really make sense
It will depend on the market. In a lot of places I think higher rates would be sustainable immediately. So they will probably inch up there quickly. Maybe some places not so much.
This would be amazing. Uber and Lyft would be forced to raise rates. And so be it. People have been getting their rides subsidized on the backs of drivers for this long. They can pay more.
In your article you say:
Don't ICs have to pay taxes just the same as employees? Is the problem that they are underreporting income?
Lyft seems to be cracking down hard on all these apps. Notice that they are gray on rideguru fare estimates now instead of pink. On the bellhop app they don't even use lyfts name in the logo anymore. Probably gave these guys legal trouble is my guess. Very lame.
So much for Lyft being the good guys.
Sure looks like some corruption going on there. It's funny. Taxis were always known as a shady business with lots of underhanded things going on behind the scenes. mob connections. etc. Uber and Lyft came along and sort of upended that. But now it just seems like they're headed back that way... What is it about transportation that breeds this kind of corruption.
Leave a good tip and you're fine 😁 😁 😁
So basically if you just sat around for the past 3 months and played video games on your couch, you did better than uber. Yay!
Here is what urban dictionary gives me:
Got it!
Lyft is not going anywhere. They are still gaining on Uber. C-level executives come and go. It happens.
Guys I am beginning to think maybe this company doesn't know what it is doing.
Holy crap. I'd be out of that car right then.
I don't think it's really Uber's problem TBH. I would recommend calling the police if you are concerned for your safety.
OMFG
That's insane that they are charging MORE for it. Um no thanks, I'll pay less to have a human driver please...
