Here is the full review after he gave it a go for a week.
Top Takeaways
Pay is comparable but the rideshare bonuses really tilt the scales! Uber and Lyft pay top drivers up to $500 per week on top of fares just to get them out on the road.
Taxi passengers tended to be older, more mature and far more interesting. Many of them had a strong anti Uber and Lyft bias because of the increased congestion associated with rideshare.
The taxi sign-up process is much more onerous even though both rideshare drivers and taxi drivers are doing the exact same job. Jay had to submit fingerprints, a drug test, online training and even submit a few paper forms.
It requires far more skill to be a good taxi driver than a good Uber/Lyft driver.

Yes, you can schedule a ride ahead in SF if you are worried about getting a ride, though as RedANT stated you should have no problem getting a ride on demand.
If you are looking for companies that focus on scheduling rides in advance you can use RideGuru's Fare Calculator and look under the "Book Ahead" tab for your trip to find companies that will allow you to easily book your ride in advance.

Uber: destroying relationships one ride at a time.
Oh man, this is an interesting take on the whole tipping controversy. Uber just needs to get with the times and add an optional tipping feature within the app. Who carries cash anymore anyways...
Thanks for the note! Zemcar is also a great choice. We included Zemcar on our Rideshare Services for Children article but thanks for sharing the news here as well.
Oh Uber... why am I not surprised, haha!
Thanks for checking and sorry it didnt work out for you!
Oh strange, their website specifically says they support UberPool in your area. Can you try contacting Uber through your app and seeing what they say? I am curious myself!
Hi, open the Uber app on your phone as normal (if you do not have the Uber app yet you will need to download it from the app store) and after you type in your destination you will be able to choose between Uber Pool and Uber X. Click on the Uber Pool icon to use their carpooling service.
End of an era...
Thoughts:
Travis is extremely fidgety with his phone the entire ride... all this bad Uber news must be getting to him.
You can tell that driver is just mustering up the courage to say something by the end of the ride!
2017 is not Uber's year so far... LOL
Thanks for the info!
One of my friends did! He is wearing it to the parade today!! He said the shirt actually arrived super quick.
I'm sure riders will be changing their tune is the price is right. Still stinks for drivers though!
Lyft was #6 in the app store yesterday! I have never seen the Lyft app listed so high.
In some countries it is the norm for riders to sit up front and is actually seen as rude if they get in the back!
Yep, Uber's fares are so low and the company takes 20-25% of each fare making the drivers earning potential extremely low. It will be interesting to see where it all levels out one day.
hahaha!! What are those things!? I really hope this isn't my future car. lol
The poster said "autonomous vehicles" in their subject line...
Crazy that only 13.1% of Uber Drivers like UberPool. I know many drivers who are not happy with Uber's pool option, but that number is even lower than I expected.
