The car you get with UberXL, can be a numbr of different cars, so there's always a chance you get a smaller SUV. So watch out for that.
and the problem here is that the driver doesn't have to pick up big cargo items. and they hate it when you have big items that needs to be loaded. It can take time in loading and it can damage their cars. They will definitely not like it. (I wouldn't.)
I would request a UberXL, and immediately call the driver to see if he is willing to do so. By some luck, you would get one that doesn't mind and will do the task for you. Make sure to mention upront that you would tip handsomely. (Don't wait until it's over and offer. Just offer upfront.)

Not sure if this is a formal movement, but I have heard vocal groups of rideshare drivers discussing this.
At high level, they are against the illusion of transparency and flexible work schedule that Uber promotes. They feel that as independent workers, they should be able to see the rides they are accepting and decide where to work and what riders to pick up.
They also feel unfair where the riders can see a lot about them but the drivers cannot. For example, riders can see the gender and race of the drivers, but the drivers cannot. If riders can discriminate why can't the drivers?

I stopped paying attention to any types of driver promotions and incentives. Lyft started this trend earlier and Uber is all over it now.
It’s an obvious attempt to confuse the drivers so they don’t really know how much they’re making. They will do this to make us work harder while making less money.
Drivers hate pets, as it often leads to lower ratings for the subsequent rides, due to smell, passenger allergies, etc. It’s a big risk for us and it often takes us off the market for sometime until the smell has subsided.
Rainy days? Forget about it.
There’s a whole discussion on whether drivers are required to transport emotional support animals or not. (I can’t remember the verdict 🤣)
Yes, of course. Just keep driving 500 more times and it will fall off your record.
That's how many Uber tallies. Your rating is an average of your last 500 trips. You think I am making fun but that isn't that many in grand scheme of things.
This is hilarious. I especially like this one:
It's like a love triangle. I bet a pax like that is super insecure and always gets jealous of his/her friends.
I wonder what part of calling an Uber he/she thinks creates a special relationship between him/her and the driver? (over the friend's)
OH WHAT?!!! The only consider the time you are on the way to the passenger and driving a passenger? This is completely misleading.
For people who are considering driving! Please don't use these numbers. These don't consider the time you wait between fares, the time it takes you to clean and maintain the car, the time it takes you to get to profitable locations, the time it takes you to do paperwork and to deal with Uber, etc.
This can't be right. I bet it's due to the way the research/survey was conducted. I bet they only took into account a) drivers that are willing to answer the question, and b) drivers that are doing particularly well.
I bet you it doesn't consider those who quit due to it not working out. ...for whatever reason. Location, simply being bad at it, etc.
Unspoken rules? Do you mean things that really should be in the terms of Uber/Lyft but aren't? (except for some vague thing about being respectful.)
What about not SLAMMING THE DOORS?!!! It hurts my ears, this is my car, and it's completely disrespectful.
Not sure where you get this idea. I am a driver and I don't speed. Think about it. It's a waste of gas and it's a risk of getting a ticket. Absolutely no positive things come out of our speeding. (maybe except a higher chance of tip? Arguable)
The most common question is, "How long have you been driving Uber?" "Do you like it?" "Making good money?" Hands down. With that said, I am not tired of it as it falls into the category of *talking about the weather*. It's the sort of question everyone asks to fill the gaps in conversations.
I drive in Boston where rideshares have been around a long time, but I think there is still fascination in the Uber driving. The fascination must be that we are regular people and they could do it too. So, I get it that they are curious about this profession (if we can call it that), and to be honest? I think our responses do vary from driver to driver, hence they expect an interesting conversation stemming from it.
It's too bad that it's the same conversation from the driver's perspective, but at least the riders get a kick out of it. (Hey, happy customer, happy driver.)
No, drivers are oblivious as to what kind of promotions, referral bonuses or passes you are using. However, this may affect the pricing and also the way we are matched up with the rider.
The creativity and the neediness of Uber riders have no limits. LOL.
How do you come up with this stuff?
See? I told them all along, only if they had just paid us the billions spent on this stupid marketing, they'd at least have happier drivers.
While the large corporations battle the government, we the people sit by and watch, helpless.
When I was a young kid, I used to assume of a wonderful future.
Now I am seeing the future, and I realize it's just a bunch of people sitting on the couch waiting for things to arrive. (whether it's Amazon box, food or their driver)
Yeah, I get that. Like a MiniVAN that GOes. That’s a stretch though. A van is a car type. It doesn’t describe how it is a rideshare, and how it provides transportation for kids.
By their theory, even anything the letters with CAR would be okay. Caroline. Carriage. Carousel, Cartwheel.
Then again, I guess there are services Called Carma and Cargo, huh.
Vango... I get it. Like the painter. but that has nothing to do with rideshare or transportation. It misses the creativity in my opinion.
Those two lines you picked out do seem idealistic (cats and dogs living in harmony), they do speak to two biggest complaints about Uber.
So those are pretty strong points in my opinion. I will agree however, but in this Indiegogo pitch, I don't see anything
Sounds a bit harsh, but I hope they can take these as constructive criticism, because if they are wondering why no one is following, this is the reason why. (If they are even reading this.)
You guys know your sh*t.
No. They do this to prevent drivers from cherry picking.
Oh, man. So sorry to hear this. I’ve plowed over a group of turkeys once, and it haunted me for years
My worst nightmare is hitting a live person but this comes close.
Always been meaning to, keeping a paper log, but I have not.
I used to just assume every mile driven (while with customer) was one dollar profit. That’s been my guideline.
