The car you get with UberXL, can be a numbr of different cars, so there's always a chance you get a smaller SUV. So watch out for that.
and the problem here is that the driver doesn't have to pick up big cargo items. and they hate it when you have big items that needs to be loaded. It can take time in loading and it can damage their cars. They will definitely not like it. (I wouldn't.)
I would request a UberXL, and immediately call the driver to see if he is willing to do so. By some luck, you would get one that doesn't mind and will do the task for you. Make sure to mention upront that you would tip handsomely. (Don't wait until it's over and offer. Just offer upfront.)

Not sure if this is a formal movement, but I have heard vocal groups of rideshare drivers discussing this.
At high level, they are against the illusion of transparency and flexible work schedule that Uber promotes. They feel that as independent workers, they should be able to see the rides they are accepting and decide where to work and what riders to pick up.
They also feel unfair where the riders can see a lot about them but the drivers cannot. For example, riders can see the gender and race of the drivers, but the drivers cannot. If riders can discriminate why can't the drivers?

I stopped paying attention to any types of driver promotions and incentives. Lyft started this trend earlier and Uber is all over it now.
It’s an obvious attempt to confuse the drivers so they don’t really know how much they’re making. They will do this to make us work harder while making less money.
#3 is so hard. I’d imagine a huge percentage of people move the cars to “get out of everyone’s way.”
I’ve done it myself. Got hit in an intersection. Wanted to move my car past the intersection to get out of the way, and the guy (or girl) who hit me just kept on going. Never saw him again.
You say, “unless told to do”. I assume that’s by the authority.
This is surprisingly a difficult question, because customers come in all shapes and sizes. There are great passengers who do everything right and there are some that do everything wrong.
So if you ask, "something passengers never do"... I am not sure.
Driver with a 4.3 rating?! That's unheard of.
Totally understandable, right? There's an expectation among the passengers. When I order a regular Lyft, I'd expect a sedan to show up with some space for luggage. Say an ability to go to the airport with more than a carry-on. If a Mini Cooper shows up, I'd be dead in the water. (and driver too)
Should write them here:

I'd like to officially start a movement for passengers to have the ability to give 6-star ratings. The catch? If they really believe it, they have to buy that additional star. Like $5.
Running out of gas is pretty bad for sure. Accidents totally understandable.
Then there are things outside of their control. Like flat tires, road closures, feeling ill, you not knowing the address. I may understand your frustrations but please don't take it out on them.
One-star ratings, I'd like to hope are only given out for extreme circumstances.
Other posters have said "just get me there" but I feel as long as the driver tried his best, he still doesn't deserve a one-star. There are circumstances outside of their control. As long as their intent was good and they tried to do their best, please don't give them one-star ratings just because of spite.
For new drivers. Always ask the pax to update the destination in the app. Never take their word for it.
It also says $800. On sale for $250.
It’s never worked since I first downloaded it on 2012
Obviously, she didn’t mind the negative ratings. Took the gps over the customer’s instructions. Amateur move.
Being annoying in general. Not picking up the phone when I call. That's a huge pet peeve of mine. I mean, I know you have the phone with you. You just ordered the ride. How can you not pick up from your driver?
Currently, the UberPools are only offered on UberXs.
That's not to say that an SUV can't pick you up, but I believe the capacity is still capped at 4.
Are you challenging my moral stance? ...or are you asking whether I'd work for a different rideshare company that isn't as "awful."
Don't most of us work for evil companies. Did you feel guilty for working at Walmart or ExxonMobile or Google or whatever
You guys didn't see this?
The shutdown is turning prison guards into Uber drivers
No sir. Never. That is annoying though.

Yet again, the price of the webcam pays back in ten folds. I thank my lucky 360 degree camera every day. Way more valuable than the insurance itself LOL.
Gosh, take you to court? For puke? For $250? It's all talk.
