If you are a bigger tipper, you should leave cash. You’d make the driver in a good mood and you have a better chance of scoring higher.
4.84 is fine though.
I think you answered your own question. You didn't even know about it. Neither did I. I am sure they barely made a dent. There are like 100,000 rides A DAY.
Uber and Lyft averaged 96,000 rides a day in Boston in 2017: Report ...
Cars and Ubers and such are considered the "last mile" to the destination. What brings together the largest distances are the main mode of public transportation such as airplanes, buses, trains, etc.
The irony is that the "last mile" is where the accidents are likely to occur and, I believe, the most difficult to automate. Why not start with Greyhound Buses for these auto-cars? Mostly Interstate driving.
There are some generalizations in there. Careful! Some passengers have real good eyes and peak at your phone. Don't wanna be calling them as wrong age or something
Tough one. I'd like to say I can't blame the guy for trying to make the most money out of his day. After all he's out there.
...then again, do you do anything to make money.
Ya know, you have a strong case here. The consequences of facing physical harm vs. being fired by Lyft... the answer is pretty obvious.
You are following the law after all. You wouldn't be going to the slammer for carrying one.
I am confused. Were they fined $750K or $1.1M?
I am sure the driver had no idea he'd be liable for the teen's stupidity.
All in hopes for a lousy tip. Changed his life forever. Ouch.
It says free. It isn’t?
The back of your head must have a regal look.
Wow. This is some interesting info. I am glad Uber plugged the hole, but I also feel horrible for drivers who got dinged for this.
"A waiting rider would see the driver moving away from them (which may be necessary to drop off the last rider). After that dropoff, then the driver would flip back to pick up the current ride and they may in fact be the closest driver. Well people with their impatience, would see the movement of the car and cancel because they think the driver is lost or not coming."
They are not a transportation company. They are a technology company.
...at least that's what Uber says.
What about vaping.
Right. It isn’t always easy to make money or hold multiple jobs. I do appreciate the opportunity to pick up the app, leverage the resources and skills I already have access to (i.e. driving), and make a few bucks.
I’m a huge fan of gig economy but it did jack up the supply and demand balance in so many areas of the market. Uber pretty much wrecked the livelihood of those in the driving industry, single-handedly.
What makes me especially sad is that they didn’t have to. The pricing didn’t have to undercut the existing businesses, ie taxis, to this point. It was wreckless and really broke the balance of people’s expectation and worker’s pay.
Wrapier is a horrible name. I didn't know about them before. Gosh. seriously?
$800 an account? That seems to expensive to just have a job.
Starting an Uber career with 800 in the red? Ouch.
I agree. If Uber vetted the customers, drivers shouldn't have to vet them out again. We aren't asking for people's licenses and IDs.
The momente the rider breaks the Uber rules, the liability has now shifted from Uber/Driver to the Passenger. Simple.
It says the app will prompt the user to call 911. I don't think the police is automatically dispatched.
That may avoid false positives, but then if the accident is big enough the rider is unconscious, then we are out of luck.
Lyft was 2012 but the company who founded it is Zimride, which was founded in 2007.
