A 45 miles will take 45~60 minutes to drive. Such a trip should be about $55 to 70 in most areas. This is without considering for surge pricing which can raise the fare during busy periods.

This is exactly what I wanted in the future.
Anyone remember Minority Report, the Tom Cruise movie? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrxyr1CjiSM So cool he can do whatever he wants while he is on it. (Don't watch too far into this video. Things do start to go wrong. Perhaps that's a bad example for what I want for the future.)
Pretty cool. Taken from WIkipedia:
"A classification system based on six different levels (ranging from driver assistance to fully automated systems) was published in 2014 by SAE International, (former Society of Automotive Engineers) (SAE), an automotive standardisation body.[11][12] This classification system is based on the amount of driver intervention and attentiveness required, rather than the vehicle capabilities, although these are very closely related. In the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released in 2013 a formal classification system.[13] The NHTSA abandoned this system when it adopted the SAE standard in September 2016.
SAE automated vehicle classifications:
Can someone make a Skynet joke already?
I am hearing "AV" like we should all know what that stands for. AV as in Autonomous Vehicle. I am trying to get used to it, but it sorta reminds me of RV.
Another impulsive shopping for me. Love the knitnacks on kickstarter.
Here's an article:
https://www.taxifarefinder.com/newsroom/2015/08/11/are-minors-allowed-in-a-taxi-or-uber-without-a-guardian/?lang=en
This is a big assumption here: "By transporting more than one passenger at a time". This particular article is a bit misleading. The actually study says:
"One way to improve traffic is through ride-sharing - and a new MIT study suggests that using carpooling options from companies like Uber and Lyft could reduce the number of vehicles on the road 75 percent without significantly impacting travel time."
The study isn't necessarily talking about all Uber and Lyft's services. It's talking about the CARPOOLING potentials like UberPool and Lyft Line.
Uber Sex sounds like it's a way to buy sex, rather than ordering a car to have sex. Right? Like how a "Uber Eats" is where you buy your eats.
Am I the only one?
4AM is an early timeslot, but drivers should be around. There are drivers who take advantage of those awkward times for a few reasons:
- 4AM? Lots of people go to the airport: The earliest flights start leaving at 6AM, and drivers know this. So they usually start hopping on their shifts around 4AM.
- No traffic on the road: Believe it or not, drivers generally make more money driving in non-traffic conditions.
- Surge pricing: When there are less drivers on the road, they may be able to score a higher fare. I have heard from many drivers, that they take advantage of these and 4AM is a good timeslot for this. (depends on city though)
I believe Kathy must be referring to Uber and/or Lyft. In both apps, when you download, you must create an account right away, but the apps won't ask you for the credit card info. This needs to be done in the Account Settings.

oh, man
Disrupting the market in the name of being a disruptor can only go so far.
I guess that's where the line is, huh? Uber has been breaking rules and regulations and no one did anything.
I didn't realize that. That is very nice. More clear instrctions needed though. How would we know?!
Oh by the way, they have been reducing their fares. Passengers cheer, drivers boo. Is the competition that fierce in the rideshare market? or is this Uber's plan to thwart their competition?
...but what about driver retainment? What about the competition in that area?
@jbauer I believe that is a Trump joke. One of his Tweets.
I have a taxi driving friend who said that taxi driving will become a part-time gig for everyone involved. The deregulation of tais will hurt the drivers in the immediate future. This industry will not be the same anymore
The fact that the drivers are saying they can't make enough money driving taxis OR Uber is a proof of this. All drivers from both sides are picketing and uprising.
I can't believe no one has yet mentioned a joke around how Trump asked Elon Musk to order his Ironman suit.
...and Travis for a Batmobile.
