A 45 miles will take 45~60 minutes to drive. Such a trip should be about $55 to 70 in most areas. This is without considering for surge pricing which can raise the fare during busy periods.

"Today, Grab is in 87 cities and is aiming to hit 100 by the end of this year. Grab now has 95 percent in third-party taxi-hailing and 72 percent in private-vehicle rides, according to the company."
The taxi-hailing thing is a huge market. They were successful in creating a monopoly there.

How can you post that without this meme.
Actually, I had to look this up. It's actually a part of their community guidelines.
Give riders and drivers some personal space
We all value our personal space and privacy. It’s OK to chat with other people in the car. But please don’t comment on someone’s appearance or ask whether they are single. As a passenger, if you need to make a phone call, keep your voice down to avoid disturbing your driver or other riders. And don’t touch or flirt with other people in the car. As a reminder, Uber has a no sex rule. That’s no sexual conduct between drivers and riders, no matter what.
Uber Community Guidelines
Did you know Uber has a NO SEX RULE. I am not making this up.
Physical contact with the driver or fellow riders. As our community guidelines make clear, you shouldn’t touch or flirt with other people in the car. As a reminder, Uber has a no sex rule. That’s no sexual conduct with drivers or fellow riders, no matter what. And you should never hit or otherwise hurt a driver or fellow passenger.
Only one!!!
Then again, there may be a flaw in this game. Most things already function under the philosophy of Supply-vs-Demand. Did I just defend Uber's surge pricing inadvertently?
We all know about "Uber for XYZ", but I never thought of "Uber surge for XYZ." I will start.
- Uber surge for Vending Machines. If the machine is freshly stocked, the can is only $0.50 each. However, if there's only one can left, it's whopping $5.00.
I do love it how they might get away with it by claiming this is a "discount" during non-busy times. If they said the price goes up during busy times, there would have been a huge uproar.
Many restaurants already sort of do this, right? HAPPY HOUR anyone? Lunch specials and lunch menus?
Autonomous vehicles.
Big companies like Google, Toyota, Daimler, Ford, etc. are all working on autonomous vehicles, i.e. robo cars. They will be ready to eliminate the single largest expense of running a rideshare company, the people drivers. Whoever figures that out first will have a huge edge over everyone else. Yes, Uber is working on it, but they are a software company...not a car company.
With that said, the branding of Uber is pretty strong. "Waymo"? Come on. It's well possible Ford will launch a successul auto fleet and have their own "rideshare", but people may just call it "Uber from Ford." LOL.
You mean like this? This is from Brazil

You probably have a point with the Prius thing. I drive an Explorer and I have never had anyone try to sit in the front seat. not once.
"180 days to change". 180 DAYS TO CHANGE.
Aren't we only like 60 days in? What more else is out there?
I've love to hear what people are observing in their cities.
