This happened to me quite a few times. This particular night I get a request for Uber X I can seat 4 safely. I pull up there are 3 people they say we are waiting for one more. I am paying no attention to back seat they say ok we are good I start trip get 5 blocks from pick up look in rear view mirror I have 4 in back 1 in front. So what do I do? Do I say something? Do I end trip there and boot them out? I am sure you are all saying I would of. Lol There is 5 of them one of me, oh forgot to mention I am not in a very good neighborhood. Do I call police? I probably won't get past 91 before one of them can take my phone and if I can connect with 911 chances are police will not be there before I am beaten and my car is on cinder blocks. So I take my time ride the right lane nice and slow, stay away from traffic. We get to destination still in another crappy hood. I quickly end trip. The person they are meeting doesn't answer their call so they are not moving out of my car. Uh hello trips over. So they continue to sit in my car for 10 min deciding what to do. Fnally I get another rider so I find my voice and get the courage to say "I got to go" . Still another 2 min. go by. Finally guy comes out and they get their stuff out of my trunk and go on their way. Now I pull up with doors locked and don't unlock until I know how many are getting in my car. I've learned quite a few lessons driving for Uber this past year.

I've picked up strippers twice. One stripper had a fit & started screaming at me because I didnt pick her up at stripper enterance. The app put me in front of the place. I had never been there before. She called me screaming so I drive around to where she told me but there were people all over plus 2 entrances/exits so I ask the first female I see if she was my passenger. She ignores me then I see Mr. Big and Beefy with the tight muscle head shirt on wave me over. She opens door starts screaming why didnt you come here 1st & why were you talking to those people? I try to explain that the pick up location put me up front and what people are you talking about? She screams the people in the car. I reply "what people, what car" . She screams again the people in the car. I am getting annoyed now, because she hasnt stopped screaming at me and what people in what car not a clue who she was referring to. I should've left when I was eligible for cancel fee. We drive a mile GPS says make left turn screaming stripper barks order i will tell you where to go. We go another mile another barking order "pull into that gas station I need something". She needed something all right some manners or a foot up her ass. I pull in to this gas station that is packed has a line of cars to get in (will explain the line of cars at 3am at a gas station another time). I finally get into lot she gets out and I plot my escape. Why should I take her screaming, order barking ass anywhere else they dont pay me enough for this? I put the car in drive ready to pull out and my guilty conscience kicks in. Its 3am you cant do that. Then the little devil on my shoulder says go for it. Good conscience won I stayed but when she got back in I had a little talk with her. By the time i dropped her off she was happy. So happy when she got out she said "i am going to give you 5 stars". I wanted to reply "stick your 5 stars so far up (that thing you shake for money)that they shoot out of your mouth and hand over some of those bills you made tonight. She was out right rude and bossy.
The 2nd stripper I picked up didnt yell at me but she also barked orders. Wont get into much detail as I just wrote a book about stripper #1. Her barking orders were hello as she entered car order #1"put this radio station on, order #2 turn volumn up ill tell you when to stop" #3 dont speak to me while music is on #4 put the heat up. No please no thank you ànd you guessed it no tip. Last but not least we pull up to destination my app shows end trip you've arrived i end it wait for her to get the hell out. But she needs to bark 1 more order #5 "I've never been here before just sit here until I can find my friend then you can leave". Must be a stripper thing to bark orders and not tip. These 2 were in my first month of driving they taught me a few things that night. No, one of those things was not how to work a stripper pole. Thanks for sharing R Paulson. This time I pick up 3 men in there 30's from India at a strip club in Bensalem PA. They get in dont seem really intoxicated. We have a coversation then they are talking amongst themselves. I look at GPS. Its putting me on PA Turnpike. Now where ever I get off I am not going to know where I am so obviously relying on GPS completely. Go up a few exists get off. Its dark as hell. I swear Bucks County suburbs doesnt like or is too cheap to put up street lights. Everything is so dark you see nothing when you look behind you. At this times roads are not only dark but no traffic around. The guys start speaking in their language now, up to this point their conversations were all English even to each other. Before I go further I was under impression destination was one of their homes. Now I have to turn into a dark business complex. Everything closed no one around. My mind thinks they are plotting to hack me up into little pieces lol This is just too shady. No houses, everything dark, no people, no cars. I am so ready to turn around at this point but had no idea where I could go or what i would say to them about turning around. Hearts pounding, nervous. Drive about .5 mile and up on my right was a Hotel. Never so grateful to see one. This was my 2nd experience on a ride that really scared me being a female driver. I think after all my stripper, strip club experiences (as I have 2 other time I had a pick up) I need to stay away from those places. Those rides are either miserable, scarey or just plain strange. Do you think Uber would deactivate me for not driving to or picking up from those places? Lol Yes definately.

I think you should be able to. I have had a few riders who are happy to see a woman driver. I even had a male who said he would rather have a woman because a male driver may be able to over power a male rider. Some of these young girls pass out from drinking. Some are so drunk that a male driver could do something and she probably wouldnt remember. If these women who got raped had a female than the rape would've never happened. Young women tell me all the time some of their male drivers hit on them some are just creepy make them feel uncomfortable. One young woman said her driver bought her cigs alcohol, and tried to kiss her after ride was over. Women tend not to be criminals, rapist, etc. I would think they wouldnt be hitting on male passengers to the point that the msle rider is uncomfortable. Unfortunately these women who have had these issues dont report driver because they are afraid he will come back to their house.

Lilly, Can you please clarify or correct me if I am wrong as I dont want to be giving my riders wrong info. If you schedule a ride more than 60 min. in advance your fare is locked in. If you schedule a ride in less than 60 min. in advance Uber gives you an estimate. Then when you are matched with a driver fare could increase if there is a surge in your area. Thank you.

Uber and Lyft base fares on the longest route to riders destination (time & miles). Most Drivers take the shortest route. Driver is paid for the miles they drove & the amt. of time it took. I arrive at riders destination switch off GPS & go back to Uber or Lyft app. It will say 5 to 15 min until destination. I do the speed limit, I use WAZE app, my car doesn't fly, and its not an amphibious car. Passenger got charged for that 5 to 15 min even though it didnt take that long and they get charged for the miles I didnt travel. This is why drivers are complaining. Uber and Lyft are making a few dollars less than us or the same amount. Nothing we can do as we agreed to be pd per mile and time. Upfront pricing scam. What sucks is riders think we are getting 75%/80% of the fare so they may not be tipping for that reason. Especially on long trips that are 50.00 to 150.00. I am driving for Uber as I text this. When I have some free time later today I will post some screen shots so passengers can see whats going on. O will also screen shot my next trip that says we have X amt of time until destination when we are all ready there.
Greatest Of All Time (drivers). Agreed not too happy with the name. I started watching the RSP a few months ago. He seemed to be a decent guy so I decided to watch further videos to see how this played out. Havent been watching them recently because they just became boring and the same ole thing. Then I came across this video. I will admit in the beginning I was sort of thought maybe this was an alternative to Uber and Lyft. However I am skeptical now. At first it was supposed to be 80/20% or 75/25% now its 70/30%. There are all different "levels" depending on what you pay them makes you a part of their company & how much you can earn just by signing drivers & riders up. Kind of a slightly different version of TRYP. We all know where that went. Just kind of reminds you of what U & L did. Talk a good game, pay drivers a decent rate until all went to $h!+.
All I can say is I am not giving anyone any money until they are 100% active with apps, riders, and positive results. Oh and you cant drive anything older than 2012. I hope it takes it off, they are a better company than Uber & Lyft, and they treat drivers better. Skeptical for now.
I recently added a dash cam to my car for my safety. As a driver we really dont have anything to protect us. If we were to be assulted it would be nIce to have proof of the assult along with a video of who the person was. Lyft and Uber allow riders to use fake names. We dont have a clue who we are picking up. A pregnant woman was stabbed to death along with her baby a few months back, another driver was shot to death a few weeks ago, there are many other stories out there of drivers getting assulted or fake accusations made against drivers are being sent to Uber and Lyft. How can anyone report a driver or complain about the dash cam knowing its for their safety? Everywhere you go stores, streets, on top of traffic lights, bars, etc you are being recorded. There is also some employers using cameras to record their employees. There is no getting away from being recorded wherever you go. Drivers are far from being safe picking up riders (strangers) and riders often make fake accusations against drivers causing them to be deactivated. Dash cams are our only proof of what really happened. I have to ask what are you saying or doing in an Uber that concerns you being recorded? If a rider cant understand why a driver needs a dash cam I suggest they choose a different mode of transportation. Just an FYI I believe public transit and taxi's also uses cameras.
I dont care to be recorded as its somewhat uncomfortable however I understand the need for it. My camera is visible for all to see. I save my footage for 30 days and then its erased. I have not had the need to review the footage. I could care less whats on there and dont have the time to watch it. It's strictly there for safety reasons.
Nice of the officer to dump her in an Uber. Lol Probably mixed alcohol and Tide Pods or Bath Salts. She would make a good zombie in the Walking Dead once they put some makeup on her. Can you imagine dealing with that that? I would be laughing my ass off. Unless I feel there was an issue I never review my dash cam footage. Too afraid what I will find. Lol Dont know how that driver didnt lose it and laugh his ass off.
Most riders will deal with a 25%/30% increase. Riders are hooked on rideshare. Maybe it will weed out some of the undesirable riders that tend to cause problems or it could lead to passengers trying to scam more free rides. Who knows? Guess we will find out.
I have had 2 trips on this one road where I lost service on everything for 8.5 miles. GPS although it will say lost signal will still show me my directions on WAZE. I know Lyft knows when our service is bad because they tell you right on app so I am sure Uber does. I was always able to end my trip even with no service. It pauses on that screen but as soon as service is restored trip ends. I assume once we are back online they can tell also. They are able to review our trips. They know our pick up and destination. If something was wrong with the fare either on driver end or passenger you would just message them. During that 8.5 miles heading back I cannot get requests though.
They didnt pass it yet. I hope you are right about AB5. I still think some politicians are going to be paid off. Its the USA, thats how they do things. We will see. Start a count down thread so we know when its coming up:) If I am wrong you can say "I told you". I will admit being wrong but Uber and Lyft dont seem that worried anymore.
You may think its funny for all involved but most drivers will not agree. All we get is a name and rating. There is no safety at all for drivers. Suppose a rider does something and police need to be contacted? Officer can you go find killer, M, K, Tothewindow or D!@kSw@!!0w$r? Most drivers will pass up the fake names.
I agree but Dara has a big set of b@!!$ , big ego. Its fine to have that if you can produce. The guy hasnt done crap but piss drivers off even more than Travis. Fired 400 employees, lost some good drivers, and a few of his minions. Really what has the man done? I dont see anything. I think Dara knows how to BS big time:)
The app tells you how how many min until driver gets to your pick up location therefore you do know:) No there is no need to do that:) Like I said it stinks when you drive 15/20 min to get rider & your fare is 3.45. Unfortunately its part of the job sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. The 15/20 min to get to rider just cost me that in gas not to mention oil, miles on car, etc.... How would you feel if your employer said to clock in at 7am but you are not getting paid until 720? I get it its not the passengers fault there is no car in the area. Uber and Lyft should charge a minimum of 5.00. I dont get annoyed with the rider its Uber & Lyft. Mainly Lyft. Uber will pay us on long pick ups. In my market the threshold is anything over 10 min. After 10 min we start getting paid. If you are 20 min away, 7/8 miles Uber will pay driver about 9.50. Lyft gives us nothing. Lyft just started testing this. Unfortunately they are paying for long pick ups but they lowered rates for drivers. So technically they didnt give us squat. Lyft is notorious for pick ups being 15/25 min away on top of it being a long pick up it will also be a shared ride. Most veteran drivers decline long pick ups unless they are have a promotion, bonus, quest, or want to maintain a certain acceptance rate. Just being honest, these long pick ups end up costing us money or breaking even. Again not riders fault. It would be nice if riders would take this into consideration and tip a few dollars. Your paying $6 for the ride throw the driver $2/$3 assuming there was no issues. Trust me a few drivers declined the trip all ready if its that far but someone was nice enough to come pick the rider up:) Uber and Lyft definately need to change some things.

He must have some big b@!!$! How do you face your investors when you are hemorrhaging money? WTH do you say? How long are these investors going to believe his BS? How does this idiot sleep at night? Your not making money, drivers hate you, and probably most of his employees hate him, and investors have to be getting pissed.
Without reading the article I would say self driving cars, submarines, helicopters, law suits, paying politicians off, Dara and his minions outrageous salary. Think its time to cut their losses and lose Dara. Hire someone who is not power/money hungry. Repair relationship with drivers and raise fares. Riders are not going to stop taking Uber if they roll out a 15% increase and then another 15% a few months later. Maybe the increase in fares will get rid of some of these dangerous awful passengers we have been dealing with.
I dont get my hopes up in anything when Uber and Lyft are involved. I think they have politicians in their pocket everywhere. Between self driving cars, spaceships, and any other BS they want to put out there. Then comes the lawsuits and politicians. No wonder they dont turn a profit. Meanwhile there stock drops, drivers get screwed, but somehow Dara and his minions make millions.

That is how the US works. You have money things get done. Politicians are paid off all the time with money or owing a favor. It's nothing new. Nice you have faith and trust in them but I dont. Not saying I am right its just my opinion. I hope they are not able to pay off CA politicians but It wouldn't surprise me if they did.

Waiting to see what happens in CA with AB5. Dont like making decisions until I have facts. I get the point of AB5 and yes someone needs to step in. These 2 companies are getting away with doing what they want. I definately dont want to be an employee with set schedule, accepting every ride request they send, etc... I just want to be pd fairly, transparency, safety issues addressed. They need to come up with something in between an IC & employee.
What concerns me is Uber and Lyft depends on keeping drivers as IC but yet they do nothing to keep it that way. They sent their emails and a rally but nothing more. They could've prevented all this by increasing drivers rates and treating them better. If paying drivers to be employees kills their ability to be profitable why are they not raising drivers rates? How are they so sure of themselves that this will all go away? I have to ask! Who are they paying off? What do they know that we dont? I guess we will find out next month. Then I have to ask myself, do I stay or do I go? Reminds of the song by the Clash (1982) Should I Stay or Should I Go? Words kinda fit also:)
Both companies want control/power. Neither like it that drivers can drive for both Companies. As IC they cant force drivers to just drive for their company. However they are trying to make it as difficult as possible. If they would just pay appropriately and respect the drivers maybe things would run smoother. Neither one has figured that out. Uber now logs you totally out of the driver app after 3 declined rides. So annoying and dangerous if you are on the road. So although we are supposed to be able to pick and choose our rides they have come up with another way to try to get us to take every ride. As much as I hate to say this maybe politicians need to step in and stop these companies from totally taking advantage of the drivers.
They dont care. Just want to make sure platform runs smoothly for riders. They need to keep them happy. Uber said they want riders waiting no more than 2/3 min for a car. Its all about the riders, the people that pay. I think they really thought they would have self driven cars on the road much sooner. Since that still isnt reality they hate the fact that they still have to pay drivers. It's taking from their profit. Dara only made 46M+ thats not enough for him. He wants it all. Power and money, the next Amazon (for transportation). People will talk about him forever. Lol He will screw, cheat, and step on whoever he needs to. The man definately has a big ego.
Agreed RedAnt have been dreading it since they started Beta here. I just dont like getting logged out every 2 rides to have to put my password in. Guess I am going to make a much shorter password. There isnt one benefit to that program. My acceptance rate will keep me from leveling up:) We only need 300 for gold. In 6 days I have 28 points so thankfully Ill never level up. If you dont level up they will stop bothering you with it? Uber gives me how many min after 40 I can usually figure out where I am going to end up by that 90% of the time. I only take 40 + min trips the majority of the time. Whenever Uber or Lyft offers something "beneficial" you know you are getting screwed:)
