This happened to me quite a few times. This particular night I get a request for Uber X I can seat 4 safely. I pull up there are 3 people they say we are waiting for one more. I am paying no attention to back seat they say ok we are good I start trip get 5 blocks from pick up look in rear view mirror I have 4 in back 1 in front. So what do I do? Do I say something? Do I end trip there and boot them out? I am sure you are all saying I would of. Lol There is 5 of them one of me, oh forgot to mention I am not in a very good neighborhood. Do I call police? I probably won't get past 91 before one of them can take my phone and if I can connect with 911 chances are police will not be there before I am beaten and my car is on cinder blocks. So I take my time ride the right lane nice and slow, stay away from traffic. We get to destination still in another crappy hood. I quickly end trip. The person they are meeting doesn't answer their call so they are not moving out of my car. Uh hello trips over. So they continue to sit in my car for 10 min deciding what to do. Fnally I get another rider so I find my voice and get the courage to say "I got to go" . Still another 2 min. go by. Finally guy comes out and they get their stuff out of my trunk and go on their way. Now I pull up with doors locked and don't unlock until I know how many are getting in my car. I've learned quite a few lessons driving for Uber this past year.

I've picked up strippers twice. One stripper had a fit & started screaming at me because I didnt pick her up at stripper enterance. The app put me in front of the place. I had never been there before. She called me screaming so I drive around to where she told me but there were people all over plus 2 entrances/exits so I ask the first female I see if she was my passenger. She ignores me then I see Mr. Big and Beefy with the tight muscle head shirt on wave me over. She opens door starts screaming why didnt you come here 1st & why were you talking to those people? I try to explain that the pick up location put me up front and what people are you talking about? She screams the people in the car. I reply "what people, what car" . She screams again the people in the car. I am getting annoyed now, because she hasnt stopped screaming at me and what people in what car not a clue who she was referring to. I should've left when I was eligible for cancel fee. We drive a mile GPS says make left turn screaming stripper barks order i will tell you where to go. We go another mile another barking order "pull into that gas station I need something". She needed something all right some manners or a foot up her ass. I pull in to this gas station that is packed has a line of cars to get in (will explain the line of cars at 3am at a gas station another time). I finally get into lot she gets out and I plot my escape. Why should I take her screaming, order barking ass anywhere else they dont pay me enough for this? I put the car in drive ready to pull out and my guilty conscience kicks in. Its 3am you cant do that. Then the little devil on my shoulder says go for it. Good conscience won I stayed but when she got back in I had a little talk with her. By the time i dropped her off she was happy. So happy when she got out she said "i am going to give you 5 stars". I wanted to reply "stick your 5 stars so far up (that thing you shake for money)that they shoot out of your mouth and hand over some of those bills you made tonight. She was out right rude and bossy.
The 2nd stripper I picked up didnt yell at me but she also barked orders. Wont get into much detail as I just wrote a book about stripper #1. Her barking orders were hello as she entered car order #1"put this radio station on, order #2 turn volumn up ill tell you when to stop" #3 dont speak to me while music is on #4 put the heat up. No please no thank you ànd you guessed it no tip. Last but not least we pull up to destination my app shows end trip you've arrived i end it wait for her to get the hell out. But she needs to bark 1 more order #5 "I've never been here before just sit here until I can find my friend then you can leave". Must be a stripper thing to bark orders and not tip. These 2 were in my first month of driving they taught me a few things that night. No, one of those things was not how to work a stripper pole. Thanks for sharing R Paulson. This time I pick up 3 men in there 30's from India at a strip club in Bensalem PA. They get in dont seem really intoxicated. We have a coversation then they are talking amongst themselves. I look at GPS. Its putting me on PA Turnpike. Now where ever I get off I am not going to know where I am so obviously relying on GPS completely. Go up a few exists get off. Its dark as hell. I swear Bucks County suburbs doesnt like or is too cheap to put up street lights. Everything is so dark you see nothing when you look behind you. At this times roads are not only dark but no traffic around. The guys start speaking in their language now, up to this point their conversations were all English even to each other. Before I go further I was under impression destination was one of their homes. Now I have to turn into a dark business complex. Everything closed no one around. My mind thinks they are plotting to hack me up into little pieces lol This is just too shady. No houses, everything dark, no people, no cars. I am so ready to turn around at this point but had no idea where I could go or what i would say to them about turning around. Hearts pounding, nervous. Drive about .5 mile and up on my right was a Hotel. Never so grateful to see one. This was my 2nd experience on a ride that really scared me being a female driver. I think after all my stripper, strip club experiences (as I have 2 other time I had a pick up) I need to stay away from those places. Those rides are either miserable, scarey or just plain strange. Do you think Uber would deactivate me for not driving to or picking up from those places? Lol Yes definately.

I think you should be able to. I have had a few riders who are happy to see a woman driver. I even had a male who said he would rather have a woman because a male driver may be able to over power a male rider. Some of these young girls pass out from drinking. Some are so drunk that a male driver could do something and she probably wouldnt remember. If these women who got raped had a female than the rape would've never happened. Young women tell me all the time some of their male drivers hit on them some are just creepy make them feel uncomfortable. One young woman said her driver bought her cigs alcohol, and tried to kiss her after ride was over. Women tend not to be criminals, rapist, etc. I would think they wouldnt be hitting on male passengers to the point that the msle rider is uncomfortable. Unfortunately these women who have had these issues dont report driver because they are afraid he will come back to their house.

Lilly, Can you please clarify or correct me if I am wrong as I dont want to be giving my riders wrong info. If you schedule a ride more than 60 min. in advance your fare is locked in. If you schedule a ride in less than 60 min. in advance Uber gives you an estimate. Then when you are matched with a driver fare could increase if there is a surge in your area. Thank you.

Uber and Lyft base fares on the longest route to riders destination (time & miles). Most Drivers take the shortest route. Driver is paid for the miles they drove & the amt. of time it took. I arrive at riders destination switch off GPS & go back to Uber or Lyft app. It will say 5 to 15 min until destination. I do the speed limit, I use WAZE app, my car doesn't fly, and its not an amphibious car. Passenger got charged for that 5 to 15 min even though it didnt take that long and they get charged for the miles I didnt travel. This is why drivers are complaining. Uber and Lyft are making a few dollars less than us or the same amount. Nothing we can do as we agreed to be pd per mile and time. Upfront pricing scam. What sucks is riders think we are getting 75%/80% of the fare so they may not be tipping for that reason. Especially on long trips that are 50.00 to 150.00. I am driving for Uber as I text this. When I have some free time later today I will post some screen shots so passengers can see whats going on. O will also screen shot my next trip that says we have X amt of time until destination when we are all ready there.
Activated charcoal works very well. Pouches of it on Amazon. Blunt Effects will get rid of any smell other than skunk (havent tried it on that yet)you can possible think of. Works immediately. Even weed and cigarettes. However it is oil based. Very greasy. Can harm paint. Just be very careful what you spray it on. Dawn dish detergent can get it out of clothing, carpet, and upholstery.
Yes but the players at the table are Uber, Lyft and the government. I trust none of them at all. They are all crooked liars, cheaters, and thieves. Everyone of them would sell their mothers if they could make a few bucks. Everyone of them looks out for themselves. We dont matter to anyone of them. Now if we had an appointed group of drivers (elected by the drivers) along with a lawyer they we chose then we're talking.
I would be happy 1.25 per mile .25 per min 1.50/2.00 base fare. Minimum ride 5.00 no less. No $3.43. Full 5.00 for cancel like Lyft. Of course I would be happier with higher rates then I mentioned but even what I am asking will not happen unless forced. I will check it out tonight when I am out driving (in between rides of course).
Agreed. They think they are untouchable. If something isnt done they will continue to take advantage. They will continue to lie & cheat. I am hoping if it passes it will shed some light on this whole IC vs Employee. Basically CA will see how it works out. If its terrible the rest of the markets can fight for some changes but remain IC. Our minimum wage here is 7.50. No thanks.

Uber & Lyft
1. Increase our rates (1.00/1.25 per mile .25 per min)close to what it was a few yrs sgo.
2. 80/20% or 75/25% split what we signed up for
3. Make riders sign up with valid ID & Credit/Debit Card
4. Make ratings & deactivation more fair.
If they would do these 4 things I think most drivers would be happy. Their issues with drivers would go away. This isnt going to stop in California. Eventually every market will strike and make demands. I think they feel they are untouchable. They can keep getting away with what they do. They had a good idea & put out a decent app. Other than that they have done nothing. The drivers do all the work and the riders pay the money. Uber and Lyft would be nowhere without the Drivers. We provide the actual service and get riders from Point A to Point B safely (most rides). Wake up Uber & Lyft and treat drivers better. Without us you have nothing.

Many drivers like driving for different reasons. I like to drive, meeting new people, seeing new places, flexibility, and instant pay. I dont like how Uber and Lyft lie & cheat both the drivers & riders. For many drivers the flexibility is what keeps them driving. As of right now I can still make money as long as they dont cut rates anymore. Gas prices rose but our rates didnt increase at all. Some markets rates were even cut.

As long as they are respectful, dont make a mess, dont break anything I am good. I would hope they at the very least say hello & thank you or good bye. I personally wouldn't click "no conversation" but whatever they are paying. We are not a traditional car service or limo but it seems Uber trying to make it that way. With social media, texting, etc... socialization has changed. I do find it awkward on a 45 min ride where nothing at all is said but it is what it is. Uber wants to add these extra's to make riders have a better ride but dont increase our fares. Dont do anything to make drivers happy. Thats what annoys me. I'll shut up, open & shut the door, & do the little extras, INCREASE our RATES!
Declined all 3 or 4X it hit my phone:) Any request that doesnt have a real name I decline on Lyft. Uber I've been lucky only had 1 with just a letter M. Rating was good and it was a long trip. I did take the chance. Paid off. Really sweet older couple who tipped 20%. It's mostly lyft I see bogus names. Most of my rides are families, pilots, business people, college kids, and families going to the airport or coming into the airport. No, dont wait in queues. Lol I am picky on my rides. I found an area to drive to pick these types of people up and can usually tell where they are going. Lyft gives me 30+ min long trip or 45+ min long trip when request pings my phone. Uber gives me 42 min, 47 min, 52 min long trip, etc.. when request pings my phone. By doing it this way I feel safer. People travelling and paying $60.00+ for a trip tends not to be a problem. Some have the "your just a driver", attitude or "I make big bucks I am better than you", or "I am President of my Co. and you are hired help". I can deal with them:)
Uber and Lyft do nothing to prevent minors from signing up on the app. If they made people use valid government issued ID's maybe it would help cut down on the amt. of minors on the platform. Uber and Lyft should start charging the accounts of the minor or the parent with no car seat a fee. 1st offense $20, 2nd offense $30 and so on. That money should go to the driver for wasting their time and costing them money. I guarantee after a few charges they will stop requesting rides. Parents need to stop ordering rides for young children. What the hell are they thinking putting kids as young as 7 yrs old in a car with a stranger by themselves? What is wrong with the parents that want to get a ride with their young child and no car safety seat? Definately parents out there that are careless and neglectful.
I just answered this question on quora this morning. My question is ate you talking about a long ride? Or being sarcastic as in oh no this is going to be a long ride? Passenger being a pain in the butt? We dont know how long our rides will be except Lyft will alert you if its a 30 min +, 45min +, or a 60 min +. Uber tells you 41, 45, 54, 62 min, etc... If your asking what makes you this is going to be a long ride in the oh no sense. Really drunk riders, riders that bark orders either texting before you get there or as soon as they get in. Loud obnoxious people, or the rider that I had that told me she signed up for Sugababies.com. Explained in detail with D pics of old men in their 70's & 80's and what she was doing with them or for them. She was in her 20's. Longest 24 min ride ever.

Lol. I ignore them. I had one guy come at me saying I was "negative, bringing everyone on the thread down". It was a negative thread. Everyones comments were negative. Told him what I thought of his comment and he never replied. I never went back after that. There are the ones that brag or lie, the old ladies (men), the know it alls, the newbies asking where to drive(where its busy)you know how well that goes over in there. I am too old to put up with stupid BS and stupid people.

Some of these drivers wonder why they dont get tips. The comments are awful. They are mean, rude, controlling, selfish idiots:) They dont know the meaning of Customer Service. Yes every rider isnt the best but the crap I read is unbelievable. Some are definately in the wrong business. I have plan a, b, and c:) I just like the flexibility, instant pay, and driving. Have some health issues and getting old:) Other than getting stiff and achey from sitting too long driving doesnt bother other health issues:) I have 4 kids 2 adults and 2 teens. Somehow they still all need me. If I had to punch a clock I would've been fired a long time ago. My 3 boys have heart issues and one also has asthma, rods & screws in his spine and frequently hospitalized for 1 or all 3 problems. I have an elderly mom also that lives with me & my 2 nephews. My life is never dull. Although I would like better rates, 75/25 spilt. The other crap I can deal with. Flexibility is very important to me right now.
I will not stop posting about this situation because parents are still requesting Ubers and drivers are still putting kids in with no seat. I DONT COMPREHEND HOW EITHER A PARENT OR DRIVER WOULD RISK A BABY, TODDLER, OR YOUNG CHILD'S LIFE.
DRIVERS, so tired of pulling up to a mom or dad with a toddler and no seat. When I say "I cannot take you" parent responds "last driver did it". JUST STOP DRIVING THESE NEGLIGENT, CARELESS, IRRESPONSIBLE PARENTS. If that mom didnt put those kids in those seats their brains would've been spattered.
PARENTS, Wake up. You dont know the driver (stranger) you are getting in the car with. Uber and Lyft dont drug test, do shitty background checks, never even meets or speaks to drivers, and yes some dont care its all about the money. Seriously, it can happen to you.
I started out doing 3/4 days a month for almost a year while I was in Nursing School. Past 14 mths driving more but never full time. November 2018 I started doing only long trips so my numbers go up very slowly:) My 45/65 rides per week went down to 20/25. Work smart not hard. Know your market. Research, trial, and error. Dont accept every crappy trip that pings your phone especially since quest went way down here. I learned the hard way. Made every rookie mistake out there. Didnt know about you tube videos, forums, etc... I found one forum they were all rude idiots so never looked at it after the first time. Thats why I like it here. For the most part if we disagree its done nicely:) My age qualifies me as a veteran:) lol I have over 2300 now and thats not including my private clientele:)
I believe it. So far never had the issue. Of course now that I had to respond to you it will happen. Lol I only take 30min + rides on both apps so if they send me anything else its declined anyway. I got spoiled. I no longer drive drunks either. Found a spot where I swear just about every driver heads in when the street lights come on. They dont come back out until about 9am Lol Like when I was 10 back when dino's roamed. If one of my private riders request when they are in my car and it doesnt go to me I am blaming you:)
I am a vetran driver never had a problem when rider is next to my car or in my car. However I know others have. They are using Batch Matching so maybe thats why. At least that is why I put the articles under the question:) For you to read😊 lol
