What do you need help with?

  • Was driving the day before Thanksgiving. All but one of my rides tipped 20%. Two of my riders tipped me $20.00 for a $37.00 and $35.00 ride. Would've been nice to be able to say Thank You. Uber and Lyft could put a few messages that we could click on. They have have badges to click on and notes they can text for passengers to send drivers. Dont see why they cant do something like that for drivers to send passengers..

I am not making light of your situation. It's awful that these things happen to you. However if you want to fight ignorance or bring awareness you may want to approach it slightly different. People will take you more serious without the expletive language. Its best to educate people not preach at them. You bring up valid points. Just come at it in a better manner. Just saying.

  • Download Uber and/or Lyft app. You csn then get a ride

Why not just order an Uber or Lyft? If you find a driver you like talk to them and see if they would be interested. I understand since its everyday to & from it would be easier to have same driver   Is Parlin in NY? On GPS it comes up as NY. NJ isnt even an option for Parlin. I drive Princeton - Newark. If I come across any drivers that would be interested I will refer them to your post. Please clarify the Parlin NJ/NY thing please.  You may want to take your phone number down and post an email address. This site has decent people on it but you never know. Just a suggestion.

  • If you have the updated rider app and scheduling is available in your area the scheduling icon is on the right. Messy red box. Sorry didnt have time to color neatly.

  • I am so over this thread:)

  • Uber has Uber Black Car seat. It is more pricey and then its an additional $10 for the seat. I have 4 children now adults there is no way I would put them in one of those seats when they were younger. You dont know if the driver cleans them or disinfects them after each use. You dont know if they have the right stage safety seat you need for your childs age. I know they dont carry different ones they have no room to store them. They could've bought it second hand and it could have been involved in an accident. It could be a recalled seat and the driver doesnt know it.  Too many possible issues. If its not an inconvenience for you bring your seat. Some peoples idea of clean & germ free may not be your idea of clean. Just sayin:) I see some pretty nasty things out on the road. For example 95% of the people who use public restrooms either dont wash their hands at all or give them a 2 second rinse. I just dont understand people. Hope this helps you decide:)

You should of contacted police through the app. I dont think I would've worried about the fare or cancel fee.  I would've been more worried what the rider was going to do. I would report it to police now. He may of just been drunk and harmless but maybe not. Try to be aware of where police stations are in the areas you drive. My son would've been visiting his house the next morning. Some men are disgusting assholes with no respect. Makes you wonder what kind of people raised him. Did you call Lyft or email them? Dont bother with email they dont respond or they say they ate working on it and never get back to you. Call or go to Hub. I wouldnt let this one go. Sorry you had to deal with this.

  • I am not to sure if I like this. If our phones are in the mount on the dash it will be possible for riders to see us start recording (not a fan of that). I am not planning on recording every ride. What if Uber could randomly go in and check any ride we record & listen to our conversations? We would never know it. Who knows if Uber would have capability to turn on the recorded anytime they felt like it. They could listen to private conversations we have anytime with family, friends, doctor appts, etc..  I know this sounds somewhat paranoid but they have done some shady things in the past. Including spying on companies and people. I am sure Uber will have it buried into TOS that the recordings are property of Uber & they have the right to listen to them without our permission. Look at Siri, Alexa, google assistant, and the list goes on. Again I dont trust Uber.

Riders could bait a driver into certain conversations regarding controversial topics. Get a driver to give an opinion or to say something that is "offensive". Unfortunately everything you say anymore could "offend" someone. Rider gives driver 1 star, clicks offensive conversation (statement), sends recording, driver is deactivated. Riders say & do ridiculous things to get free rides. What sucks is you really dont hear about female drivers killing, raping, and robbing riders but yet we have to deal with the fallout & BS.

Many drivers go by "my car my rules". My question is "Is it really our rules"?

Riders can now secretly tape us without our permission or knowledge. Is this legal in all states? Where do we draw the line? How far will Uber & Lyft have to go to make riders safe? At what point does a driver say enough is enough? It's my car I am not comfortable with riders recording me so no not happening. Remember according to Uber they are an app that connects riders with drivers. They are not a transportation company.  Drivers are IC not employees. How is it they have all these rules for the drivers? Be able to control drivers? I know I will not harm my riders, I bought and paid for my car, i made the car payments, I pay for gas, maintenance, etc but Uber says I have to let my guy/lady I pick up record our conversation and not tell me about it.  Not liking this. I may never speak to my riders again. Lol

  • Agreed. This man will stop at nothing to achieve power and money. It just amazes me how they get away with what they do.  I can't understand how they got away free and clear of that woman's death. Someone definately was paid off. All Uber had to do was throw some $ to the family in the civil suit. To hell with the $.  If that were my family member I would fight tooth and nail to make them accountable. I get the safety driver was negligent but damn if she isn't a scape goat. Every other company is using 2 safety drivers. Uber cut out the other one to safe money. The emergency braking system turned off to save money. How is that not negligent? Uber isnt making money because they are too busy greasing palms. Dara must have friends in high places or he has some info on someone really important. Lol How do you wake up everyday & look in the mirror knowing you are nothing but a POS that has no regard for human life or how you treat people. This isnt about driving or just not liking the guy because he wont raise drivers rates. I can still make money although going on my rants about him I may soon be deactivated:) I enjoy driving, I've met some really decent people, learned new things, seen new places, and so on. I just do not like who this evil person is. What he gets away with. Hopefully one day be will pay for what he has done. I am damn sure we dont know the half of it. If the law dont get him Karma will. Always comes back to bite you in the a$$. What you put out there in the universe will come back to get you:) Hope I am around to see it:)

  • I read in another article which I will post link below that the prosecuter of Arizona decided not to criminally charge Uber. That is just ridiculous. How in the hell do you not think about all the things that could happen and make sure those cars are programmed correctly?  Especially something as common as jay walking.  Uber also had 2 safety drivers in the car for safety and had recently cut back to one. Uber also deactivated the cars emergency braking system. Why? To save a buck.

Uber wants these cars on the road so bad yet they will cut corners whenever they can to save a buck. Who cares if it kills a few people. They will just pay the families off. The safety driver may be charged with vehicular manslaughter but yet Uber gets away with it. I am not saying the safety driver should walk away with no blame but to charge her and let Uber walk? That is some real thick BS. The family did file a Civil Suit and won. However that doesn't do the dead woman any good and the family still had to bury their loved one.

Uber and Lyft do what they want. They dont obey any laws. They dont obey court orders.  Uber's not profitable because of the lawsuits, all the BS they are involved in, and they are paying off politicians and anyone else they need in their pocket. Wonder how deep it goes? How else do they get away with everything?

I really cant understand how people like Dara K can live with themselves knowing they were the cause of deaths, knowing they lie, cheat, and steal from everyone and anyone to get ahead. Collect a huge salary for being evil. I will never step foot in an autonomous car especially if Uber or Lyft has anything to do with it.  Karma will come knocking one day for Dara and his minions just hope I am around to see it. They need to Uber Dara back to where he came from. See link below how Uber is off the hook for the death of the women in Arizona crossing the street.

    https://usa.streetsblog.org/2019/03/08/uber-got-off-the-hook-for-killing-a-pedestrian-with-its-self-driving-car/

One woman lost her life and another woman will pay for it but somehow Uber gets away with it. Two more people Uber screwed.  SMDH

4 years ago in  How long do you have to rate your Uber driver?

UBER RATINGS EXPLAINED - THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW

Riders using Uber have more than 24 hrs to rate their driver & can change that rating for a long time after their ride.  I have used Uber once as a rider but I have ordered an Uber for my daughter (over 18 yrs of age) and my daughter in law from my account. You can tip your Uber drive up to 30 days after your trip and you can tip more than once. Highlighted in blue on the left side of your screen is the word "tip" it is there for 30 days. I also tipped a driver 2X to see if it worked. It does.

Riders using Uber can not only rate their driver but they can change the rating for at least 14 mths (most likely more) after a trip & give a reason. Not sure why they would need to do this but its available. I have trips in my rider app from 14 mths ago that I am able to change the rating. Screenshots below showing that ratings can be changed after a year.

I am a driver for both platforms. Yes we do have to rate our passengers immediately after a ride on Uber. The rating screen appears immediately after we end the trip. Highlighted 5 stars automatically appears. If we are rating less than 5 we have to click the star rating we want. Then pre selected reasons pop up as to why we are rating less than 5 or we can choose "other" & type a reason or just leave it blank. If a driver contacts Uber to change a rating for a rider they will not change it. However you can ask them not to pair you with that rider again.  Lyft automatically gives riders 5 stars or we have 24 hrs to change the riders ratings. Lyft is nice because sometimes the driver doesn't have the time right after the ride to deal with the ratings.

UNFAIR RATINGS - DRIVERS USE RATING SYSTEM WHEN ACCEPTING TRIP REQUEST.  RIDERS WITH LOW RATINGS MAY EXPERIENCE LONGER WAIT TIMES FOR DRIVER TO ACCEPT YOUR REQUEST.

Many drivers use the rating system when accepting a request.  If you get a ride request at 2am & see that the rider has a 4.20 it is probably a good idea to decline the request. I dont usually accept any request below a 4.70. I have accepted 2 request under my usual 4.70. One with a 4.50 rider turned out to be an older gentleman who liked to navigate. That doesn't bother me. He lived in a remote area that GPS wasn't all that helpful. We had a nice conversation. Tipped me 20%. The rider with a 4.52 turned into a nightmare. She lied about destination address because she "couldn't afford the fare Uber gave her". She wanted to pay in cash. Which I dont do. It turned into a big ordeal for me. That is why I use the rating system in accepting request. I now stick to 4.70 or higher no exceptions. What sucks is their are probably riders with low ratings that dont deserve them.

Unfortunately the rating system has many flaws.  Riders rate drivers unfairly and drivers rate riders unfairly. Most things don't bother me whereas I know drivers who rate riders less than 5 stars for slamming their doors (not on purpose). Not tipping which I dont find fair unless you go above & beyond for that rider.

2 Riders have rated me 1 star for following GPS that caused me to make a wrong turn. In both instances it took me less than a minute to correct the mistake. I obviously apologized. We were not lost it was a quick fix. Sorry but 1 star was extremely harsh.  The rating system would be great if people were more understanding and not so self entitled and harsh.

Most drivers provide good service and try hard to make your trip safe and comfortable. Most riders (in my experience) are respectful and nice. As in anything in this world we will eventually encounter someone (wether a rider or a driver) that is the exception. They will be obnoxious, mean, disrespectful, etc... Save those 1 stars for them.

I have to ask, for the riders who rate a driver less than 5 stars especially 1 star. How are you at your job? If your job had a rating system what would your rating look like? Are you perfect at your job? Have you never made a mistake? Unless its something unacceptable don't be so harsh.

4 years ago in  What’s the best for riding with a lot of luggage?

Request Uber XL or Lyft XL. I drive XL. I lay down my 3rd row of seats which extends my trunk space. There is still a 2nd row that should fit 2/3 riders in 2nd row and a rider upfront. However if you are by yourself or have a friend thst leaves more room for luggage. Keep in mind Uber X and Lyft can be a small car that may not fit big suitcases or a lot of luggage. You cannot order Uber Pool or Lyft shared with all that luggage. Be kind & tip your driver if they help you load & unload:)

  • I see Chris shared a link that answers your question. I also found this posted 8 days ago on Google play app. There are other postings on Google saying that Uber is available in that area. You should be good to go.

Yes there is both Uber and Lyft. Uber X (cheapest) you can bring 3 people with you for total of 4. Uber XL (more expensive) you can bring 5 people with you for a total of 6 (sometimes you get a vehicle that fits 7) but to be safe just plan on 6 people.

Lyft Standard same as Uber X and Lyft XL same as Uber XL.

You can check fare here on ride guru's free fare calculator.

Uber and Taxi's operate in the area. If you go to the free fare calculator here on ride guru and put in your pick up and drop off location you can see the approx cost. It will also give you what rideshare is operating in the area.

4 years ago in  HALLOWEEN! Who is driving tonight?

I drove past 2 yrs and both nights were slow. Last year had to cancel 3 rides do to riders ordering when they had kids with no carseats. I do carry 1 booster for 5 yrs old and up. However all riders last year had 3 or more children. As far as I know they rescheduled Halloween in a few areas. Mine being one of them. I was going out to drive but went out to a flat tire. Picked my daughter up last night and must have ran over something. It was dark and pouring so I have no idea if I can plug it or have to purchase a new tire.  We also had a Tornado watch. Probably better I didnt make it out to drive tonight.
