This happened to me quite a few times. This particular night I get a request for Uber X I can seat 4 safely. I pull up there are 3 people they say we are waiting for one more. I am paying no attention to back seat they say ok we are good I start trip get 5 blocks from pick up look in rear view mirror I have 4 in back 1 in front. So what do I do? Do I say something? Do I end trip there and boot them out? I am sure you are all saying I would of. Lol There is 5 of them one of me, oh forgot to mention I am not in a very good neighborhood. Do I call police? I probably won't get past 91 before one of them can take my phone and if I can connect with 911 chances are police will not be there before I am beaten and my car is on cinder blocks. So I take my time ride the right lane nice and slow, stay away from traffic. We get to destination still in another crappy hood. I quickly end trip. The person they are meeting doesn't answer their call so they are not moving out of my car. Uh hello trips over. So they continue to sit in my car for 10 min deciding what to do. Fnally I get another rider so I find my voice and get the courage to say "I got to go" . Still another 2 min. go by. Finally guy comes out and they get their stuff out of my trunk and go on their way. Now I pull up with doors locked and don't unlock until I know how many are getting in my car. I've learned quite a few lessons driving for Uber this past year.

I've picked up strippers twice. One stripper had a fit & started screaming at me because I didnt pick her up at stripper enterance. The app put me in front of the place. I had never been there before. She called me screaming so I drive around to where she told me but there were people all over plus 2 entrances/exits so I ask the first female I see if she was my passenger. She ignores me then I see Mr. Big and Beefy with the tight muscle head shirt on wave me over. She opens door starts screaming why didnt you come here 1st & why were you talking to those people? I try to explain that the pick up location put me up front and what people are you talking about? She screams the people in the car. I reply "what people, what car" . She screams again the people in the car. I am getting annoyed now, because she hasnt stopped screaming at me and what people in what car not a clue who she was referring to. I should've left when I was eligible for cancel fee. We drive a mile GPS says make left turn screaming stripper barks order i will tell you where to go. We go another mile another barking order "pull into that gas station I need something". She needed something all right some manners or a foot up her ass. I pull in to this gas station that is packed has a line of cars to get in (will explain the line of cars at 3am at a gas station another time). I finally get into lot she gets out and I plot my escape. Why should I take her screaming, order barking ass anywhere else they dont pay me enough for this? I put the car in drive ready to pull out and my guilty conscience kicks in. Its 3am you cant do that. Then the little devil on my shoulder says go for it. Good conscience won I stayed but when she got back in I had a little talk with her. By the time i dropped her off she was happy. So happy when she got out she said "i am going to give you 5 stars". I wanted to reply "stick your 5 stars so far up (that thing you shake for money)that they shoot out of your mouth and hand over some of those bills you made tonight. She was out right rude and bossy.
The 2nd stripper I picked up didnt yell at me but she also barked orders. Wont get into much detail as I just wrote a book about stripper #1. Her barking orders were hello as she entered car order #1"put this radio station on, order #2 turn volumn up ill tell you when to stop" #3 dont speak to me while music is on #4 put the heat up. No please no thank you ànd you guessed it no tip. Last but not least we pull up to destination my app shows end trip you've arrived i end it wait for her to get the hell out. But she needs to bark 1 more order #5 "I've never been here before just sit here until I can find my friend then you can leave". Must be a stripper thing to bark orders and not tip. These 2 were in my first month of driving they taught me a few things that night. No, one of those things was not how to work a stripper pole. Thanks for sharing R Paulson. This time I pick up 3 men in there 30's from India at a strip club in Bensalem PA. They get in dont seem really intoxicated. We have a coversation then they are talking amongst themselves. I look at GPS. Its putting me on PA Turnpike. Now where ever I get off I am not going to know where I am so obviously relying on GPS completely. Go up a few exists get off. Its dark as hell. I swear Bucks County suburbs doesnt like or is too cheap to put up street lights. Everything is so dark you see nothing when you look behind you. At this times roads are not only dark but no traffic around. The guys start speaking in their language now, up to this point their conversations were all English even to each other. Before I go further I was under impression destination was one of their homes. Now I have to turn into a dark business complex. Everything closed no one around. My mind thinks they are plotting to hack me up into little pieces lol This is just too shady. No houses, everything dark, no people, no cars. I am so ready to turn around at this point but had no idea where I could go or what i would say to them about turning around. Hearts pounding, nervous. Drive about .5 mile and up on my right was a Hotel. Never so grateful to see one. This was my 2nd experience on a ride that really scared me being a female driver. I think after all my stripper, strip club experiences (as I have 2 other time I had a pick up) I need to stay away from those places. Those rides are either miserable, scarey or just plain strange. Do you think Uber would deactivate me for not driving to or picking up from those places? Lol Yes definately.

I think you should be able to. I have had a few riders who are happy to see a woman driver. I even had a male who said he would rather have a woman because a male driver may be able to over power a male rider. Some of these young girls pass out from drinking. Some are so drunk that a male driver could do something and she probably wouldnt remember. If these women who got raped had a female than the rape would've never happened. Young women tell me all the time some of their male drivers hit on them some are just creepy make them feel uncomfortable. One young woman said her driver bought her cigs alcohol, and tried to kiss her after ride was over. Women tend not to be criminals, rapist, etc. I would think they wouldnt be hitting on male passengers to the point that the msle rider is uncomfortable. Unfortunately these women who have had these issues dont report driver because they are afraid he will come back to their house.

Lilly, Can you please clarify or correct me if I am wrong as I dont want to be giving my riders wrong info. If you schedule a ride more than 60 min. in advance your fare is locked in. If you schedule a ride in less than 60 min. in advance Uber gives you an estimate. Then when you are matched with a driver fare could increase if there is a surge in your area. Thank you.

Uber and Lyft base fares on the longest route to riders destination (time & miles). Most Drivers take the shortest route. Driver is paid for the miles they drove & the amt. of time it took. I arrive at riders destination switch off GPS & go back to Uber or Lyft app. It will say 5 to 15 min until destination. I do the speed limit, I use WAZE app, my car doesn't fly, and its not an amphibious car. Passenger got charged for that 5 to 15 min even though it didnt take that long and they get charged for the miles I didnt travel. This is why drivers are complaining. Uber and Lyft are making a few dollars less than us or the same amount. Nothing we can do as we agreed to be pd per mile and time. Upfront pricing scam. What sucks is riders think we are getting 75%/80% of the fare so they may not be tipping for that reason. Especially on long trips that are 50.00 to 150.00. I am driving for Uber as I text this. When I have some free time later today I will post some screen shots so passengers can see whats going on. O will also screen shot my next trip that says we have X amt of time until destination when we are all ready there.
I had one of those rides:) In my early days before I realized we couldnt drive minors and not to pick up more than 4 people. Yes I wasnt thinking at the time and I do have some blonde moments. Lol I picked up a group of girls only to realize one of them were my daughters best friends little sister. Ok this is going to make me sound even dumber but hell Ill tell it anyway. Just keep in mind it was only my 10th ride maybe I knew the one kid and couldnt just leave her there far (from home and drunk). Make them get rid of open containers little did I know they had a gallon of Vodka and 1/2 case twisted teas. The one girl says she has to throw up. I pull over (Wes and LG PA you will appreciate the area) on Street Rd around Lower Moreland or Warminster police (i think) she falls out the door and is laying on the side of Street Rd puking. Now I discover the alcohol and more open containers they hid. I get rid of open containers lock up rest in my trunk get the girl back in car. Now she opens window and starts screaming at other cars and trying to open door as I am driving. I put child locks on doors and windows. Pull up to her house out comes mom and brother flipping out at her as she is sitting in my car. Finally "I am just the Uber driver". Dropped rest of girls off. Left vm for the ones mom and got the hell out of there. That was lessons learned. 1 through 17 learned that night. After I dropped them off it hit me on what couldve went wrong and how much trouble I couldve got in that night. You dont always think about the issues just trying to get those kids home safe. They were 13, 14, and 15 yrs old. Where their parents thought they were who knows. By doing what I thought was the right thing couldve cost me in number of ways. Dont think police wouldve wanted to hear "i'm just the Uber driver".
They would probably get more respect than we do. Lol
Thats what I thought. Thats how I was paid in July but apparently we didnt get that memo they changed it or Uber support must get a commision on any money they screw the driver out of. I have sent 9 messages to them and still getting the scripted answer that is now forever burned in my brain and my phone screen. I am not letting this go. Going to call tomorrow. I was screwed out of a total of 56 min on 2 trips. Although I may be deactivated by morning. Lets just say the last message I sent was far from nice extremely rude and possibly bordering on inappropriate. I've just had enough.

Wes, I agree fabuloso is very good and last. I prefer blue one but all 3 smell good. Dont care for the lemon one. Pine Sol has a blue one that smells great also. I wipe my car down with that stuff to clean then use Meguires to shine it up. For a few days after riders always say it smells good and its not over powering.
Activated charcoal or a piece of charcoal under the seat is supposed to remove any odor. Another tip I just read is to put baking soda on floor and seats let sit for 24 hrs. vacuum. I want to try the charcoal. I switch scents with air freshner sprays. Sometimes stronger ones linger longer and then I have a mixture although its not usually a bad smell. Anyway going to try the activated charcoal. Also you can change out your cabin filter which you should anyway. Another tip was to spray fabreze under hood near intake vent? Maybe one of the men or ladies can tell me if I have that right (vent?) I guess.
Funny how it says "Driver may be packing heat and you wouldn't know it". What about riders who may be packing and we wouldn't know it. Lol
I am with you Red ANT. I believe there was an incident in Florida in August this year where a crazy bf went after an Uber driver thinking his gf was in the Uber. It was her friend. The Uber driver had a permit ended up shooting him. Classic "stand your ground" case. Never heard if he was deactivated but it was a legal shooting. If I am not mistaken Uber now says (at least as of Oct 2017)drivers and riders cannot carry firearms.
Snowed here today in Philly. Whole city surged with Uber. All Lyft was offeting wss 16.00 extra for 4 consecutive rides. Ubers offers were better. See what happens next storm.
That night the trip request just kept coming in. I was on my way to a pick up I accepted another rider to pick up after I dtopped off rider. Then it went crazy and just kept sending request after request. I czn only assume "system overload":)
Today the whole city was surged along with Bucks I had a couple glitches with trips today also. Biggest issue was Uber using the time it usually takes to get to that pick up not real time with traffic and weather. Had a few cancellations then I started texting my riders letting them know time was incorrect and giving them my real ETA. They were annoyed at first but I kept them updated and all turned out well. Got a 12.00 surge with long pick up fee and 19.00 surge long pick up fee. One rider took me 47 min to get to him 3.4 miles away. Drove him 4 blocks from his house, work called told him not to come in. Drove him back took me 30 min from pick up to drop off. He was charged 32.00 to take a ride a few blocks from house back to his house. Work would be paying that plus tip 10.00. Surges were great but in the end not worth it in the traffic. The first trip got girl to work at Red Robin they were closed never told her. Ended up sitting up there on my own time waiting for family member to come get her. I couldnt just leave her there standing out in this westher with just a hoody:) Lesson learned if traffic real heavy stay home:) I did make 68.00 for 2 trips but too much time in traffic. Also fighting with Uber over long pick up fees they only pd. me 5 min 2.27 for 1 and 5 min 2.52 for the other. Pick ups were over 30 min and over 45 min. We will see how that goes. You driving night before Thanksgiving? Btw thanks for all that info a few weeks back. Impressive. You really did your homework. Hopefully it doesnt come out of drivers pay. Uber better be eating the cost. Free cancellations in 15 min window. Just enough time to get to pick up wait 5 min and get cancelled. That will screw drivers. We may still get 3.75 but riders may opt to cancel more. Access to highly rated drivers for Diamond status. That may just cause highly rated drivers travel further for pick ups. Can't wait to see how many more problems this will cause drivers.

When I was using 2 different cars for Uber/Lyft. One night I changed the car in the Uber app but forgot to change Lyft. My 1st 2 female riders never said a word. I assume because a. they just cared about getting ride or b. figured I was female had no worries. My 3rd rider who was a guy brought it to my attention by saying "I dont mind but your car doesnt match". I thanked him and showed him in the app after ride was completed that I was telling the truth. I felt like a total idiot and was embarrassed. Unfortunately I did it a 2nd time. Again 1st 2 female riders never said a word. It was another male that told me. I only use one car now so no more issues. Thankfully no one reported me. Both cars were registered, legal, and active so I dont think it would've been a big issue had it been reported. Never ever get into a car that doesnt match what you have on your app.
Riders are able to use a light on their phone. Lets use "blue" as an example. Riders screen lights up blue driver receives text that tells them which color to look for. I assume Uber chooses the color in the event there are multiple pick ups. This way 2/3 people dont have same color at same location. I've had riders text me describing where they are or what they have on. For example I have pickups at Philadelphia Mills Mall (aka Franklin Mills Mall) Uber notoriously sends drivers to wrong pick up location. Some riders know this and will send a text where they are (using a landmark or enterance) Uber's app is awful in apartment complexes, malls, hospitals, strip malls. Many drivers get frustrated and cancel. Equally frustrating for both. Although these suggestions are more for driver to find you once you are connected at pick up, you can confirm the type of car, license plate, and pic to confirm. I also use my hazzards (flashers) as I pull up. Not all drivers do this but you could send text or call your driver to ask him/her to do this. I get texting/ calling can be annoying also to both but it can save a lot of aggravation in the end. Some drivers complain they cant see the text while driving or its dangerous. My answer to that is when you are at red light check it or if having trouble with pick up then view text. If the rider calls your device should be mounted all you need to do is press button. I much rather view a text or get a call than have a troublesome pick up, make the rider wait in inclement weather, or late at night.
Had to laugh at this one. Your dumbass leaves an important expensive item in a strangers car. You complain you have to pay 15.00. Are you serious? It is an inconvenience to the driver. Time is money. I've returned 5 phones, 3 credit cards, and a shirt. I got 2 fees from Uber and a 50.00 tip from one rider as he was grateful I took the time to contact him. The rest of the returns was on my time, no tip from the riders, no fee from Uber. . Your lucky your driver took the time to meet you. Driver could've threw it in sewer like BigFrank said. Be grateful you got it back. "They charge you know matter how much effort you put into get it". Are you serious? It's your phone you left it behind its your responsibility to get it. Why should it be the drivers responsibility and why shouldn't you be charged?
My son's friend has one he said it was good but didnt get into detail. Would love to hear from drivers that have it and like it or think it sucks:) Uber tends to do nothing without a catch. Yes flat fee. It was listed under rider payment and no negatives for Uber so I think he did get stuck with it. Of course Uber only looks out for themselves. Had an XL trip it was really short I only made .25 more than Uber on the trip. My booking fees are still fluctuating between 2.00/2.20 and 2.50/2.60. Still cant get a straight answer from Uber. Same scripted answer all the time. I gave up. That was one trip I should've booted 5 young males out of my car. I have 3 boys grew up with brothers no sisters so not much phases me but they were really inappropriate. Had a group of snotty, stuck up, self entitled millenials that reeked up weed (skunk). Had a rider right after that Blunt Effects to the rescue:) If I find it inappropriate its bad. Lol Wasnt a full moon but most of my trips were weird, awkward, or silent. Last night is how it was when I first started 1 trip after another. Wish all nights were like that. Started at 8pm finished at 230am 15 trips, took 2 half hour breaks 195.00 for the night. Declined 2 pool rides and didnt take any in Kesington until I got up here. Also didnt get any back from Richboro on destination filter. I did however take 2 rides in CC but too much traffic down there. Lots of accidents all over last night also. Thanks for replying to post. Dont know any drivers in the area or any area so know one to complain to or talk about Uber stuff:) You ever wait at 30th street? Only 4 cars in queues last night 10 min wait time. Last week airport only had 7 X and 3 XL. Wasnt sure where wait lots are though. Have to find them :) Lastly took an Uber driver (older guy, retired) and his son to dinner 15 min ride. He was talking about tipping we talked the whole way. He tipped 3.00 cash. Only 2nd driver to tip :) Kinda felt awkward though especially since we both complained. Then my thoughts were he is still a rider probably should've watched what I said. He was cool though let him do most of .complaining. Dont like talking about tips with anyone when subject comes up if you complain or make negative comment you know it will be held against you. Lol If rider asks I redirect conversation quickly. LG PA did you drive Saturday night? I started at 7pm it's 145am. Just took first break. It's been ride after ride. Only 2 pool sent my way of course I declined. This is how Saturday nights used to be last year. People were strange tonight also and its not a full moon. Lol Carried a 5.00 surge with me leaving Kensington. Managed to fly up 95 got up to Academy before I was pinged. No surge around Maggies near Delaware but the young guy that got me got stuck with 5.00 surge on his ride. Bad luck for him. Dont think thats fair but what do you do? It's Ubers fault.
